Default Multimeter reading

I have a RTR team losi with Hump receiver pack.(1200ma)

I charged it first time 11hours. (@ 100ma/h)

I ran today with it and would like to check how much recharge it would need.

I have a Multimeter but I'm not sure how to set it to check A. (I know i do have Amp reader on the multimeter)

So how should i set it up?

Also what way do i need to hook my battery to the multimeter to avoid short circuit? (black on black and red on red or the other way around?)

Thanks for all the infos

Default RE: Multimeter reading

You can measure voltage by putting the black probe on the black wire and the red probe on the red wire and setting the meter to 20 VDC, however to measure the battery's capacity in amp hours the battery must be under a load. You measure it the same way as voltage but you'll most likely plug the red probe into the "mA" jack on the meter. I just made an adapter plug with a Futaba type battery connector for my peak detect charger to get the best charge out of my receiver packs.

You can't check the capacity of the pack with a Multimeter. You can however check the voltage under load and that would give some kind of indication of the state of the pack.
The capacity is a product of current x time and some higher end chargers will tell you how much charge the pack took.
