ran the TB-01 today.. with the 4500mah battery it flew, after i let the motor and ESC cool off i ran another pack and noticed it was a lot slower on take off and wouldnt donut..
obviously there's a problem with the rear diff.. its odd because it does power the rear wheels, just very little.. like its got some 90/10 split or something... [&:]

turns out the plastic bevel gear on the driveshaft has rounded.. the worst thing is that these parts come with the dirveshaft.. and the metal bevel gears are not interchangable as they are splined.. i'll switch to the metal driveshaft and bevels gears when i can be bothered! [:@]

I have this same problem with my 9.6v Castle 4600 sidewinder setup.
See my post from last year. - http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=8552460
I too need to bust into a Subaru Prototype kit and pull out the metal splined driveshaft and bevel gears and swap them.
I think it's the only way to get this much power to the ground without destroying everything.
ALL METAL GEARS!!!
Cheers,
Skottoman

At this point I don't think an ALL metal drive train is overkill. The 9.6v Sidewinder setup is pretty torquey. I'd prefer to not have to worry all the time about broken gears due to the power my TB01 is putting out...

Skottoman, what gearing are you using?
I have the rally TB01 and I am thinking about reviving it.
I am considering an Evo VI shell or Z-Tune GT-R.
I only have a stock motor for it and an ESC, and thinking about getting a 9.6v pack which I assume with the 540 motor it should still be pretty fast?

I'm using stock gearing. But with the Castle Sidewinder 4600, which I know can take 9.6v. I don't know what a stock silvercan would do on 9.6v. Prob be faster, but also probably burn out. ESC might go up in flames. hahahaa

The ESC I have can handle 9.6v according to the manual.
By stock, you mean 9.91:1?
What is the top speed like with that gearing?

TB-01 now sporting a new antenna tube (old one snapped in two after a roll)
steel driveshaft and bevel gears..
plus i replaced the silly step screws on the shock mounts for ball connectors.. (slightly less slop) [8D]
