Default What kind of servos for combat?

What kind of servos are you guys using for 1/12 scale combat, .25 engines? I'm looking at building a Me-163 and need two servos for the wings and one for the throttle.

I use Ripmax SD 200 servos

Dimensions (mm): 25.0 x 29.5 x 13.9
Weight (grams): 16.0
Speed (sec): 0.14
Torque (Kg.cm): 2.50
Ball Raced: Yes

No probs even with a super quick model

........I use GWS mighty micro metal gear on Open B and Scale.

Weighs about an ounce, has 75 oz-in torque, and is about $20 at Servo Hut.

Very, very good servo for Open B or Scale.

Most any of the smaller METAL GEAR servos, like Hitec HS-81/82MG. Cost is a factor, because you WILL eventually break them. However the metal gear servos last a lot longer. Many folks have been buying the smaller servos from Hobby King in Hong Kong. http://www.hobbyking.com/UNITEDHOBBI...idProduct=6608

When you run your airplane into someone elses, you'll answer that question real quick.  Sides, it's nice having just one pile of spare parts.

hey Skeeter, we fly combat at Palomar and a few other places, we dont fly any scale thought and we have been trying to get the scale class going. but the rules have changed, a true 1/12 scale plane doesnt fit the rules now, it has to be a little bit larger, you can go to the combat site to get the rules www.rccombat.com , we would be flying a plane that can be used in both classes but will follow the new 2610 rules. you can also google "palomar combat" and get more info, we have a forum there that most of the west coast guys hang out at

for servos in all of our combat planes, open B and SSC, we are using the GWS mighty micro mainly, some guys are using the hitec 82mg. any plastic gear servos will not last very long at all, its better to get the metal ones up front.

Here is another good little servo for SSC and scale......I am using some now and have had no complaints.

Turnigy 380 Micro Metal gear, weighs about half an ounce, 50- oz/in torque and costs about 12 bucks.
