Has anyone had any good luck flying the funbat. 5 of us bought these silly little planes, and each one of them seems to fly a little bit different. If they run out of fuel they tend to dive like bombs.

From: Wichita, KS,
We tried them about 5 years or so ago. They flew ok but a little on the heavy side for the .15 engine class. The worst part is that they didn't last very long and couldn't take a hit or even a hard landing. After the fun Bats, we used Battle Floyds for awhile, and then came Spads, and we've been flying Spads and Spad dirivitives ever since.

I've had 8 Funbat/sportbats. I loved the plane, it was fun to fly, simple to build, cheap and a good time.
None of mine lasted more than 15 flights with most of them averaging about 6.
Bad luck, pilot stupidity and a design that just isn't tough enogh. But other than that, they're a neat airplane.
Build a spad.
You know, if you built the wing from coro, that'd be worth a bunch more durability. The wing is a little thick and tended to be too draggy.

Thanks for the info. All of us in the Jedburg Flyers are new to combat, and any info is greatly appreciated. I checked out the spad website, but where do you buy coroplast? Also has anyone had experience with the mvvs .15 abc engines. I bought one and keep hoping it will perform like the ad says it will.
Thanks

If you can't get it from a local Plastics distributor, or after checking a local sign shop, try www.harborsales.com that's where I buy my 2 mil from. 4 mil can come from the same place OR if you don't mind a little printing, you can get it from the local gas station dumpster in the form of cola or cigeratte advertisement material.
Go to the SPAD links page and look for the Suppliers links to find the downspout locater. Usually can get the local building supply store to order it for you if they don't have it in stock.
