I've been an RC flyer for about 2-3 years, and I have gotten interested in Scale Combat. What are the best companies for kits, what are the best engines? Combat looks really fun and I'd like to be a part of it.

I think that is you want to start combat, you should start with a zagi slope glider. It is rugged and durable, and they are very cheap and easy to assemble, as they are made of EPP foam.

Jumping in and buying Zagi's can be a pretty expensive choice...when ultmately, Combat is no fun by your self! You should get others that fly with you to feel the excitment that Combat causes....so start slow............
Just get together with a couple of flying friends.........get some party crepe paper, tie them to the back of your trainers, or what ever you are flying, and chase each other around. It won't take long before the Combat bug bites all of you....then go to
www.spadtothebone.com
Download the free plan to the Saturday Night Special. You can build this downspout and Coroplast bird for about $5.00!! It's a total blast to fly and very easy to build....
Let the fun begin!!![sm=wink_smile.gif]

Make a couple for you and a couple extra to give to folks in your club. This isn't scale combat, those usually take a little more building and can be a little less forgiving, however a good source for tough scale planes is www.jkaerotech.com if just for the online builds that will show you how to build your own scale ship.

There is a group in CA that flys their own rules of scale combat, last I checked. I *think* they are in the southern end of the state, and I don't know where that is in relation to you, so that might not be much help.
I just checked the RCCA calendar at www.rccombat.com, there is a contest in december in Fallbrook, CA. Even if you don't have a plane, going by there to meet the local combat pilots would be a good idea. There is also contact info for that group on the calendar.
The best way to get in to combat is always to find the local guys who are already flying it (if there are any), and join in the fun.

And the sadest thing to see is a combat pilot that doesn't have a plane in the heat. All those streamers, watery eyes, little stream of snot running out of his nose and his thumbs twitchin. It's just sad I tell ya.

Thanks guys, that Saturday Night Special looked cool. I printed the Saturday Night Midget instead though because of the lack of room I have. I also printed out the rules, tons of pages. I'd love to compete doing this.
