Is everyone using basically the same planes with the same performance?
The sonic thing, does it allow shooting from any direction, or is it highly directional and require the nose of your plane to aim at the tail of the other guy?
Read Dicta Boelcke.
If the other guys are always beating you, look at what they are doing, and try to figure it out.

Try to break it into two 2v1 fights: gang up on 1 and kill it, then kill #2.
Montague has some very good points. Additionally, you need to see if you are doing something predictable. If you are, it makes it a lot easier to shoot you down.

first of all what planes are you using. I don't know if this is a good idea, and you may have tried this but try if at all possible to break it into two 1v1 battles. I know this could be hard if the two guys you are fighting are a good team, but you probably have better chances against one guy than two of them. Once again I am definitely not a combat expert, but it seems to me like that would be a good Idea. Montague's Idea is also something I wholeheartedly agree with. Building off of his idea, I would say to get a match with those two where you don't even try, but watch what they do and then practice one on one with your friend using their tactics. once you both have them down, take the two on and hopefully you will blow them out of the sky(figuratively, that is)

Good Morning to all
A similar difficulty I also find with my Combat-fellow : Although we exercise in Combat for some months now, it has been impossible -until now- to cut each other streamers!
I have a WORLDMODELS AIRCOMBAT SERIES plane, while my friend has the GREAT PLANES “Easy Sport”.
We have 12 meters paper streamer with 1,5 meters line, 13,5 meters in total. Though, we can not cut the streamer!
Is it a matter of experience? Or should we try with longer streamers?
Thank you
George

From: Laurel, MD,
It's a matter of experience. Top pilots routinely cut streamers 5 feet long or even shorter at big contests. Of course we use a stickem on the wings to grab the streamers. Are you making contact with the streamer with any part of your airplane, or are you not even getting a 'drape'?
There are a lot of tricks to getting in to position to fly through someone's streamer. Most of us are good enough to put the airplane in contact with the streamer, but getting the prop on the streamer for a prop cut is harder due to the smaller size. Still, if you make contact with the plane enough times, you'll get the streamer one way or another.
If you want to try an easy-to-apply stickem on the wings, use some double-sided tape on the wing leading edge.

It is a shame to admit, but I am afraid we had not any contact until now, with each other streamers!
Anyway I am encouraged knowing that it is only a matter of experience , we will try harder. I find it also an excellent idea to put double sided tape on the leading edge, we surely will try it!
I will also try even longer streamers to see if it easier to have some success. Of course it will produce an even stronger drag, I hope this will be not a problem.
We make an effort to spread COMBAT also here in Greece. On May there will be an unofficial competition in an airfield near Athens, but -unfortunately- it will be only for electric planes.
Though, I am sure that the time when COMBAT will also be popular in Greece, is not so far away.
Thanks
George

Good Morning adamman
if you ask me, I have a WORLDMODEL-AIRCOMBAT SERIES plane and my friend uses GREAT PLANES “Easy Sport”.
Good planes, the only disadvantage is that they have a classic construction, balsa, ply etc. and they are vulnerable in the case of a midair (or fall !)
I will try to construct now "SICKLE" with some modifications. It is the first time I will fly an I.C. wing. I hope it flies well.
Any information for this model?
The problem is that I can not find simple COMBAT ARF KITS in Europe.
Regards
