Default New Master Airscrew?

Any thoughts on the newer generation MAS 9-4 prop for combat use? I accidentally ordered a bunch and have not had a chance to test them yet.

I got some accidentally, and I don't like them. YMMV. I order the old style directly from MA now.

The new props are probably more efficient, but they have a wider blade and more pitch and load the engine more than the old style props, so you'll get straight line speed as good or better, but when you pull through a hard turn, the engine will bog and you'll drop out of the turn when you might not have with the old props.

Well that sucks. Oh well, I was looking out but it looked like the old style on the tower website. Maybe I will just use them for practice.

Thanks, RP

Yeah, tower didn't update their pictures for the new props on all sizes.

I was able to get some testing done. I did not notice a huge differance but it was down in RPM. Things are a little differant for us at the mile high altitude! We had a good combat meet yesterday ( the RCCA Prez was there!) and I chose to stick with the APC 9-3 and old MAS 9-4. One of the top pilots really likes the MAS Scimitar style. He runs these on his Webras. I have contemplated getting a Webra but My OS engines seem to be doing just fine so I think I will stick with them. I will probably use up my new MAS props in practice.
