Now that my Predator is flying I need to make some streamers. What should I make them out of? What is the leader made from? How do you attach them?
For now I would like to start with paper since I have "Party" store just down the street...
TIA for you help.
Cheers!

Tattoo,
I've read that thread, but want to start with something easier to find than engineers or forestry tape. I want to use streamers that I can get at a local store. I am thinking that paper would be the easiest. We are just starting to do combat and I want to make it as simple as possible...
Also, that thread did not discuss much about leader material and how you attach the streamer... My Predator has a two servo wheels and I was going to get some swivel hooks...
Cheers!

Flagging or surveyers tape can be bought a Wal-Mart or any hardware store. I get mine at ACE for $1.79 for 300 feet. You can also use party streamer from the party isle of any store. While you're at wal mart, stop in the fabric department and buy "crochet cotton" string. It comes in rolls of about a billion feet for a few bucks. It is about 4 pound test and one roll will last you and your squadron for a few years
. Getting back to the party streamer, if you leave it full width, it will catch too much air and shread within a minute. Take it and cut the whole roll in half lengthwise on a band saw. The half width works great and wont shread on a normal powered plane on a normal dry day. We use 10 foot leader strings and 30 feet of streamer, but there is nothing stopping you from using any length you feel comfortable. For practice, Kraut and I very often go 50' leader and 50' streamer...big target, helps us work on defense, and much less likely to have a mid-air...and that sucks in practice. On your Preditor just loop the leader string through the launch handle, or stick a piece of 5/32" dowel or shiskabob stick (from the grocery store...perfect size) in a flute of the coroplast tail to tie the string to. One thing about twisting: Sometime a streamer will catch the wind just right and twist itself up so tight you can't even see it! Lot's of guys will attach a perminent several inches of strong twine to their plane, and then use a fishing type swivle to tie the leader string to...no more twisting! As for attaching the string to the streamer...just double over about 3" of it widthwise. Now with that doubled 3", fold it lengthwise in half and then in half again. Take this and tie your string around it in a double knot. Oh yeah...one more thing about leader string. You may think you will pull a fast one on your enemy and get some of that nylon kite string...Ha! You think it will be harder for them to score a string kill on you...oh yeah??? You might find the tail of your plane ripped off
...ask me how I know
