This looks like it might be an old add.........here's the first paragraph from the tech notes:
"
O.S. has Updated the .25 SF with this New High-Performance .25 FX.
This Engine may be used in Sport and Aerobatic Aircraft. The FX is Designed to
Use a Muffler or Tuned Pipe. Comes with a 2-Year Warranty."
The 25 SF has been MIA for many years............
DON'T GET YOUR HOPES UP!!!!![

it does look like it is coming back. it normaly would say " discontinued" but it says" expected by september" I also looked to see if the other FX's that have been discontnued are listed and they are not at all. I do remember that the FX wasnt listed at all a while back, now it is.

No, it SHOULD be the original FX more or less. OS Engines is owned by Futaba, thus it is the chairman of Futaba, Mr. Kirai, that ultimately calls the shots for OS. Several months AFTER OS announced the discontinuation of the FX and it's replacement with the AX, and AFTER all of our discussion here, on the RCCA web board AND the Q-25 web boards, I acquired a high-level contact at Futaba USA through a mutual friend. I told him of the concern we all had and he asked me to write a letter for him to forward to Mr. Kirai. He did so and Mr. Kirai decided to bring back the FX, albeit at a MUCH higher price. (The last full retail price that I paid prior to it being discontinued was $94.) Then I saw the test results on the prototype Magnum 25XLS and its MSRP and I wrote back to my contact, gave him that information and recommended that they should NOT bring back the FX since they can not compete with the Magnum XLS at that price. It looks like it was too late and that they are going to do it anyway. While the FX is a superior engine to the AX in many ways, I doubt if they will recover the sales that they lost because they cannot compete on price with the Magnum XLS. I just hope that my contact doesn't take any heat as a result of this decision. It is just a case of too little, too late.

Hi Gary,
We appreciate your time and efforts to get Futaba/.O.S. to realize the demand for the O.S.FX.25.
Thanks [sm=shades_smile.gif]
I am a long time/die-hard Futaba/O.S. customer.
Discontinuing the FX.25 was kind of a 'kick in the nuts' for us because it was part of our selling point about our Maac Scale Combat.
At ~$100CDN for a great engine, take the muffler baffle out, and join in the fun...
Without having similar engines, combat here will wither and die.
We have a CDN distributor who will get the MagXLS.25 when they are available. There is Hope !
It seems to me that O.S. needs a paid 'field rep'...
I nominate Gary James !
Take care,
Have fun,

From what I have read, the new Magnum is pretty awesome and is a lot less expensive than the reborn FX. I fly both of the older engines and the old FX can outpower the old Magnum, but the first reports on the new Magnum were pretty amazing. Also, a lot of folks are miffed at OS for dropping the FX and replacing it with a more expensive, lower performance (for combat at least) engine; the AX. When Magnum listened and stepped up to the plate with the newly designed (reworked?) engine, they won a lot of loyalty. The new engine has different carb adapters, so it'll be easier to run in classes where there is a max RPM, etc. It appears that they did their homework.
I'll be trying a new Magum (before I consider another OS) when they come out. I fly the best engine I can find regardless of manufacturer. I own Magnum, Thunder Tiger, Super Tigre, Aviastar and OS.
