You're seeing it as it happened! The wing was about 100 yards away. After gathering the fuselage and wing, the pilot got some new rubber bands and put the wing back on, cleaned the dirt out of the carb, put on a new prop on, and continued in the next heat.

Hey cool pic. Is that a FNS? (Friday Night Special). I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. If you dont, check out spadtothebone.com It's a great website. Im putting together a FNS, can't wait to give it a try. Spads rock! If I don't like the FNS I'm only out three bucks.

No, actually it's a copy of the Battle Floyd that one of our club members kits for us. Fun airplane, and pretty durable. Nothing like a spad mind you, but when all the combater's are using the same airplane it lasts quite long.

Take some hight test wax string, or fishing line and attach one side to a wing dowel, and the other side to the wing. coil up about 10 feet of it and tuck it inside the fuselage or neatly under the wing rubber bands...next time your wing gets ripped off...the fuse and wing will stay together and tumbe down harmlessly. May even save the prop and you won't have to clean the carb!!!

Now that's a great idea! And one of those "why didn't I think of that" things. :D

Hey I resemble that remark...
