Stryker combat
Wait till you try the full contact Stryker combat with about five planes in the air and all you get is really close calls but the rush is really there
|
RE: Stryker combat
Try it with streamers. For me, dragging the other guys' streamer home is what it is all about.
Swept wing planes will need something to rake in the streamers with. |
RE: Stryker combat

RE: Stryker combat
How well do those combat sonic Mods work?
|
RE: Stryker combat
I do not know-but full contact is alot of fun
|
RE: Stryker combat
I have done the sonic combat. It is fun and a good challenge. I recommend it for anyone. I have an extra module if anyone wants to buy it.
|
RE: Stryker combat
Got you again-that is twice in one month I have got you-would you like to make it three this month-JIMBO?
|
RE: Stryker combat
Hey Chase4556, are you guys using the Sonic Combat Modules?
|
RE: Stryker combat
No sir. We are using the leading edge of our planes module. [X(] Its FULL contact, haha. We get up there, and its like a hornets nest, and we try to hit eachother.
After loosing all electronics in that large field last weekend, including a spektrum reciever, we decided we better A.)streamer our electronics and B.) We are now going to begin using streamers. We recovered all the electronics, including the tiny spektrum reciever, but that was too close to for comfort. We are now going to start using streamers, I think more people will be willing to participate, and it will be cheaper! Haha. More pictures to come tomorrow evening! |
RE: Stryker combat
nice pics Chaser, Old Jimbo's GREEN Stryker got T-boned
|
RE: Stryker combat
Old Jimmy's Green Striker got planted into the ground today!
We lost 3 planes, TO THE GROUND! Haha, I will let the owners tell you how it happened. I will upload pictures tomorrow. |
RE: Stryker combat
How are you going to cut streamers with the rear mounted motor? Wish we had that around here lol with 20 dollar fuselages you can't go wrong.
|
RE: Stryker combat
We were planning on lining our leading edges with servo tape...double sided sticky tape.
I have pictures, I will upload them later tonight. We didnt get a new group shot, but still some good photos in general, just no combat ones. |
RE: Stryker combat
Here are some pictures! With me actually flying this go round, we didnt have a picture happy fool behind the camera at all times. So here are some of the better ones that I and the other photographers got.

|
RE: Stryker combat
Listen Jim, I have to find someone to take pictures while we are flying. I think Tony's wifey is going to, due to she offered to be photographer. So we will get some cool pictars this weekend hopefully.
|
RE: Stryker combat
Great-will she take some of your Mom and Sister??
|
RE: Stryker combat
Oh..you have jokes Jim. Jokes all over the place.
|
RE: Stryker combat
Are those things expensive to crash???
We've been flying some spads with CNC foam wings and they have proven pretty rugged. We had a mid air and ove plane had a broken engine and the other guy taped his up and was in the next round. Chris |
RE: Stryker combat
20 bucks for a complete fuse. We almost lost a spektrum reciever, and Eflight esc one day.
But it did get a tad expensive, so we have gone over to streamers. |
RE: Stryker combat
I was just wondering how the expanded foam stuff held up to combat.
My buddy and I designed these airplanes and we've been selling them to guys in the club for $45 bucks. So far we have only trashed one fuse, and the fuse that got trashed was previously crashed and the guy had a 25 instead of a 15 on it. It got trashed in a mid air and the other guy restarted his engine and kept going. It was almost a direct head on! Last week we had a mid air and both planes kept flying. We think my rudder got the other guys wing. There was no damage to my plane and only a dent on the other guys leading edge. [link=http://www.wichitapilot.com/album.php?albumid=36]http://www.wichitapilot.com/album.php?albumid=36[/link] [link=http://www.wichitapilot.com/page.php?pageid=30]http://www.wichitapilot.com/page.php?pageid=30[/link] We are flying 10 foot lead strings and 30 foot streamers. The think I love about flying combat planes is that I toss the whole airplane in the back of the truck and charge it at home. I never take the wing off it and I never clean it! |
RE: Stryker combat
maybe we need to do that, our streamers were maybe 12 foot long, and taped directly on. Maybe we need to to go a leader, along with a 15ish foot streamer, get more trailing behind the plane, and fight that way.
|
RE: Stryker combat
We use 10 foot of waxed string leader and 30 foot streamers.
|
RE: Stryker combat
how about those pics Chase?
|
RE: Stryker combat
What do you guys typically use for streamers?
I have never done combat before but interested in doing it some with some friends... All i can see is my delta wing hitting his streamer, and it getting sucked into and wrapping around my prop and motor and dropping my plane out of the sky... On a side note most of those damages looked repairable with Gorilla glue... My friend crashed his stryker wide open at like 60mph into the sidewalk and fractured the thing from wing to tip on both sides, even across the carbon rod which was amazing, popped a chunk of the nose off too.. Mix some glue and water up, put a bunch on it and hold it in place for 30 mins while we watched TV and now its totally flight worthy again, he just has to sand down some of the excess glue that foamed up from the cracks and get a new motor(shaft bent like 60 degree's) and hes flying again :) Even though the body's for the strykers are cheap, its still a huge PITA to rebuild. You gotta first find a way if possible to remove the fins without breaking them, then remove the elevons and servos... |
RE: Stryker combat
Crepe paper - from the party section or you can use forrest marking tape which is waterproof but more expensive.
|

RE: Stryker combat
For streamers you should try Hat trick streamers they are denecrepe(sp) abou 3/4 wide. I t would be a whole lot less drag on that airframe. I fly strykers but not for combat I save that for my avengers and scale stuff (rcca rules) you can find a link for hat trick on www.rccombat.com

RE: Stryker combat
For good streamers, I used that paper stuff you put up during birthday partys. Its cheap and visible in the air. Another good streamer is the brightly colored construction tape. Its thin, non sticky, and flourescent....
