guys im swearing like crazy.. can someone please help me out?? i have just bought the raikou dxpe and d68 tyres and got myself the green rims off r2hobbies and they just dont want to fit. i have boiled the tyres, boiled the tyres and frozen the rims, tried the lexan technique and even the other one with the half plastic pipe in between the rim ridges. nothing has worked yet and im getting very very frustrated. i even managed to break a g clamp while trying to press fit the tyre into the rim (boiled tyre and frozen rim of course) in between two plates of aluminum...
please please please help me out. i really wanna try the raikous and im very anxious to try them out so please let me know u have any other techniques.
thanks
dave
oh btw, both tyres and rims are standard 26mm.
If you followed the DXPEinstallation pics at Raikou, those are my pics.
You must be FAST. When the tires come out of the boiling water, you must attempt install VERYquickly. The longer the tires have to cool, they will be much harder to install. If you have not installed a tire within 1 minute, you have to put the tire back in the boiling water and try again.
The D68's will slide on till the last 1/8th in. or so (without boiling). Place the wheel/tire on a table or other flat surface with the extra tire side down. With the heel of your hand, press firmly and quickly down onto the wheel, and it will snap in. You will need a bit of hot glue or CA to affix the tire to the rim.
DXPE's do not require glue of any kind.
So try again, but visualize how you will do it, and it will go faster. I promise.

Join the club! I know exactly what happened, just like me you bought or most likely they sent you a wheel that is bigger than 52mm in diameter. I bought 6 sets of wheels from them and 4 sets were 54mm and two wheels were even bigger 55.6mm!!. I slipped a set of D68's one set with no problem. I tried another set, tires would not go on, I measured them with a dial caliper and the wheel was 55.6mm! no way was it going on a 52mm tire. I took a hammer to those stupid wheels I got so mad.
When you buy wheels or even tires from them you have to make sure that the inner diameter is 52mm (26mm is the wheel width). The only way I got the DXPE on the 54mm wheel was by heating the tire with a really hot heat gun until the tire was super soft, then wearing gloves I managed to slip them over the wheel. Before you slip the tire over the wheel make sure that you roll enough black tape on the wheel so that the tape is level with the wheel lip, if not when the tire gets cool it will take a concave shape in the middle.
The price of these R2 wheels is tempting, but I don't think I will buy any again as they are made poorly and they don't hold up to constant tire changes.

just checked dimentions. the wheel is 52.45 (caliper reading) i dont know why it isnt snapping over the second edge. btw goke, i was doing the whole taking out of water and putting the rim in in about 15seconds but still it didnt work. even with the tyre about 20seconds out the pot when i tried to put it on a surface and push it in it wouldnt. i ended up literally balancing all my weight on the tyre edge without my feet touching the ground and still it wouldnt go in. oh and i even tried it with some grease on the second edge. nothing. i will try and put some tape to fill in the last gap that i come to maybe that will lift the tyre enough for me to slip it on. otherwise i will end up gun heating it...
