Default would this work

Im curious as to whether or not a 35t motor would work for drifting? My understanding is that lower turn givesyou more torque. Is that right? I have a Redcat Lightning EPX and want to run the Losi hard rubber tires I got. The stock motor doesnt quite break the tires loose. So would stepping up the to a 35t work? I was thinking the HPI Saturn from the Brama. Thx for help in advance

I wouldn't do that at all.  the 35T motor is for crawling.  the best you would do is very slow and would drift very well.

The higher turn motor gives you more torque but reduces your rpms.  in this case you would be going about 5mph on full.

What type of set up are you running?

I've been using a 12 turn motor with my hard rubber wheels and only the 7.2 nickle batteries and it skids all day long.

Right now its a completly stock Redcat Lightning EPX Drift with Losi Chrome 5-spoke with pre mounted tires. All electronics are stock (for now) with the stock 540 27T motor. So I want to go down in turns?

Yes thats the best way to go.

Typically stock motors are 19 turn to 15 turn so try starting with a 15 turn motor and for a little more power add a 7 cell battery but the motor should be enough.
