Well, 1/18th is very small, drifters actually aren't very good at that scale, I had an old HPI micro RS4 setup for a little drifting once, it wasn't much fun because even large specks of dust could affect your drift. More importantly, that car doesn't have a name. What is it? Where will you buy spare parts that it will inevitably need?
Try these...they seem like they have more plastic on them than th one you linked above, but Yokomo is a quality well supported brand, they don't put out anything they won't support, and I've seen one of these running at the LHS, they look really good. The 1/16th scale makes it a lot better than the 1/18ths.

You're very welcome. I should point out though, that the yokomo cars do not come with a radio (this is why they are cheap). The same site; rcmart also sells a very cheap, very acceptable radio and receiver for only 40 $, its called the flysky gt3c, I suggest you grab one of those with your order. The radio will be great for your little drifter and also any other future rc cars you pick up down the line, you will only have to buy another receiver ($10 only) to complete another car. The radio can remember settings for up to 10 cars and has every important adjustment.

You know what, the more I look at it, the more I think this is going to be trouble for you. I was told it was ARTR (Almost Ready to Run), which usually means all it needs is a radio. The ones on RCMart need a radio, a servo, a speed control and a battery and therefore don't seem such good value after all. By the time you have all those, you might as well have got one of these...

This is a full size drift car 1/10th scale and will drift well on many surface types. It's TOTALLY ready to run, nothing else to buy. If you are set on a smaller car, I'll have another look around, just let me know.

I think I got it. This looks to be decent. HSP have an acceptable reputation, they are far from the best brand around, but they aren't garbage by any means, there's parts and option parts support too, and wow, the price, I think I might pick one up myself. lol
Here's the car...I don't know why they mount the body so high, you can mount it lower I'm sure...

And parts...

I have no personal experience or even reference of this car, I'm not recommending it necessarily, just it seems to fit your needs and its amazingly cheap. If it has a serious inadequacy that needs some extra cash to sort out, please don't hold me responsible. Like I said, I'm honestly thinking of ordering one with a few of the option parts myself, like the brushless combo and some of the alloy bits. It looks every bit as good as the one you linked at the top at least (minus brushless motor which shouldn't be necessary to drift on a smooth floor anyway).

You could try to contact them to negotiate over the delivery costs, I expect there's some legroom. Alternatively, now you have a name, HSP Magician, you can see if its cheaper elsewhere (hint: ebay ).

Any 6 cell 7.4v shotgun style nimh battery will do the job. They are quite tricky to find though, I'd try local sources first, got any hobby shops near you?

Yeh, much better, but the problem is you'll need to either get a lipo alarm or change the ESC to prevent discharging them down below 2.8v per cell (not below 3v per cell even better), and you'll also need a lipo balance charger. Lipo alarm is only a few bucks from hobby king (I can give you links if you can't find em), as are the batteries (try the zippy 2200 2s), but a decent charger will be another 40 bucks.

It's really easy, don't worry, and if you want my opinion, it IS worth setting up for lipo. You only buy the necessary stuff once, it'll be good for every car you may buy in the future too.
Literally you just set the alarm to 3v per cell and put it in line with the battery and the esc, as for charging, the programs are already programmed for you, all you need to do is set the amperage and hit go. Honestly, its easy as abc once you grasp the concept.

How about this? It even includes a lipo and charger AND its brushless.
