Not sure how this relates to tires, but PVC and ABS are types of plastics. PVC can be quite durable if it has the correct filler material. But both are fairly hard plastics.
Wheel liners or cars and trucks are generally PVC
Interior trim in cars are generally ABS

its alot easier then that and its free to get your car to drift..just set it up...think about what drifting is..its sliding the rear end of the car out in either direction at speed around a turn...simple enough right? what do you need to do to achieve this in an r/c car? well lets start in the front of the car...the front tires need to stick to the ground because those are the only things that matter in a drift..they are your life support ..with out front traction your not drifting your doing doughnuts..so what do you need to accomplish good front wheel traction? sticky tires..hpi x pattern's work awesome..also not alot of front camber you want as much contact patch as possible..the more contact patch the more traction and side scrubbing action (if the tires were to lose grip they would scrub sideways before they lose control wich would slow down the doughnut effect long enough for you to correct the problem by letting of throttle or twitching the front wheels from your radio to regain control or to end the drift..this takes awhile to learn but it actually works)...also relocating as much weight from the rear to the front is a huge diffrence...it helps by adding weight over the front tires which again adds to excellent front tire traction..soft -medium setting on the front suspension is all thats need'd but you can always experiment for what kind of racer you are and what works best with your style of drifting..lets jump to the rear setup..it should be pretty easy to figure out what you have to do in the rear by know knowing what is needed up front..think about what drifting is real quick again..sliding the rear with gobs of front traction!..so youll want hard suspension, hard rubber tires(some people use cheaters to drift such as pvc, abs, tire rings, and electrical tape)..but its easy to do awesome drifts with hard suspension and hard rubber tires..another thing is alot of camber..camber is the name for the adjustment of the wheel tilting in and out on the top(caster is the name for wheel adjustemt for the wheel going in and out from the front of the wheel)..camber is a good thing in the rear because by adjusting the top of the wheel in (towards the center of the car) you are creating less contact patch for the rear tires wich in turn will make them kick out real easy and stay out longer..yes tires will wear down fast like this but thats a part of drifting..if you cant afford new tires stick to grip racing(grip racing is everything but drifting) or just buy cheater's to achieve a drift and learn nothing about setting up your car to drift on diffrent pavments and in diffrent conditions...if anything try drifting with cheaters and if you decide you really really like it then try it my way..so far i only know of a few people on rcuniverse.com who drift like this..most others use cheaters..later

Sweet, very informative post one-sky. Answered a lot of my beginner questions and about convinced me to stick with rubber tires before trying any other plastic low traction alternatives. Thanks.

ok... here's my car... its a TA04 SS pro... and i should be using different set of tyres at the front and at the rear... so i think my front tyres are tamiya type A's... and for the rear... i'll just use the stock slick tyres... not as much grip... rear camber... i'll post what will happen later... whats with the sad face after all of your posts?.....anyways..yes use soft sticky tires in front and either hard rubber tires in the rear with medium to hard inserts ive never tried using tires without inserts..it migth help but then again it might suck..if you look at the contact patch of the tire on the wheel when you put it on the car only the outside's of the tires are contacting the ground...if you add camber to this only the inside will touch the ground which is good..but when you give throttle the tire will want to inflate and i have no idea what effects this will cause in handeling when trying to drift ..my guess is it wont be a positive effect..but give it a shot and let us know how goes it
...also i use a nitro hpi so i cant answer any questions about other chassis besided hpi but ill do my best because they all have very similar functions

Gizzy thats cool if you want to use other things to drift no problem here, but at the track that I go to i have to use drift tires , Yokomo w/one or to rings , tape ,oil, pipe arent allowed so 24 bux for 4 tires and 8 rings isnt a big deal to me, RED
