Ok,now for a real response:
What are you looking for, nitro, electric? I know when I was younger (10-14) I had electric cars and hated charging batteries so when I got back into it a year and a half ago I knew I wanted to go nitro. You're also in the drifting forum so I'm guessin you'll wanna drift with it and not too many people drift with nitro from what I've seen, only the hardcore, lol. It can be done though through proper suspension setup, tires and tuning the engine so it doesn't overheat.
Theres a few big reputable manufacturers of cars that you won't find at Radio Shack, such as:Associated,HPI,Schumacher,Serpent,Yokomo...ther es a few more but nothin I would look into so I didn't mention em,someone else surely will.
You can get these at alot of Hobby shops, look in the phone book and see whats near you and call them, ask what brands they carry,or just go look and talk with the people that work there. Then,if you break something or have a question they'll be able to help you.If you're like me and live in a city with 130,000 people and STILL don't have a hobby shop...theres always the good ol 'Net and www.towerhobbies.com.
Hopefully that was a little more helpful that those 2 useless replies.

i dont know what type of car you would want, but losi makes a very nice xxx-s. it is electric. if you were to go the nitro path, than i would sugest the Assosiated tc3. nither of these cars are ment to be drifted(like the yokomo drifter) but they make great platforms.

Two of the best and not so expensive nitro cars are the Associated NTC3 and the HPI RS4 3 SS,theres alot of parts support for both and they're both good cars to start with.
