New 'HYBRID' drift tire set-up!
A problem: Looking for a more 'realistic' drift.
A solution: Get some wheels, put some abs/pvc on the wheels, shoe-horn the tires over the abs/pvc and go enjoy some drifting. The abs/pvc acts as a super hard insert stiffening up the tires and causing them to loose traction in high-speed turns. I can confirm this works, I have just returned from a 'hybrid' tire outing. Don't expect to be on 'ice' anymore, but to build up plenty of speed and give you a realistic drift. I will be working on a few more ideas later this month that can possibly yield better results. Give it a try!
My set-up consisted of:
HPI Split-6 wheels [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCYT3&P=7]>>Product link<<[/link]
Drift Specialties ABS/Cellular core drift tires/'inserts' [link=http://www.driftspecialties.com]>>>Product link<<<[/link]
Slightly worn HPI X-Pattern tires [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBSZ2&P=ML]>>>Product link<<<[/link]
Questions/comments welcome!
