did u guys see the new electric drifter on the hpi euro site is this a good one id like to get into electric drift

they dont drift good, they dont hold a long slide they just get the back end out about 1 inch for about 2 seconds

I literally just bought one today, and I shall let you know what I think of it as soon as I've run it

It's my first drifter and my first 1/10th scale on road car for quite a while, so it'll be a newbie's opinion, which might be helpful for you

hpi isnt the best. a tamiya is better. and pvc or abs is better then rubber or hard compound which the hpi uses

I paid £130 (UK).

I've run it now, I had a quick go the same day I posted on here, before we went camping for a day, but my battery wasn't peaked (I had to go, and just had a quick go before I had to leave).

I'm really really pleased with it. It takes a good squeeze of the throttle for it to really break loose, but then it drifts just fine, and the tyres look like they're going to last very well. I will be making up some ABS/PVC tyres though once I buy another set of wheels.

All in all though it's a sweet car, and I don't think I'll be hurrying to swap out the 20 turn motor that came with it, it seems plenty for drifting.

It is expensive compared to say a TT-01 off of Ebay though. I'll have to see what I think of the tyres after I run it a few more times.

That's because you base it on the VIDEO you see on that site. Have you actually TRIED this car. it's one of the better drifters out there. The videos show the HPI Drift car (essentially a SPRINT 2) with the HPI stage D tires (which are made for NITROS). Slap on some ABS or PVC these cars almost literally FLOAT like a charm. Also with a choice of using stick packs OR saddle packs , it has very even weight distribution.

It is kind of pricey, yeah. I figured it was worth it though for me, I'm considering giving racing a go and the HPI will deffo be a better car for that than a Tamiya or somesuch, plus it's fully ballraced and has oil-filled ally shocks, and my local shop has good support for HPI parts. If I'd bought a Tamiya, I'd have wanted to ballrace it, put oil-filled shocks on it... it all adds up and I just thought I may as well get a car that I like a lot as it is bone stock, and I do like it

I concede on the tyres though - I've taped them and much prefer them this way. If I pick up some new wheels anytime soon I'm going to try some PVC or ABS tyres.

Plus, I've had Tamiya cars before, and this is streets ahead in terms of quality.

it means you have to get a radio system befor you can use it its stupid but you do get to chose the best one for ur self

Dangit. How have I not seen this thing? Now I have another car to choose from besides the XXX-S, TL-01 and Yokomo MR4TC. And I have a lot of brand loyalty to Hobby Products, too, having owned 6 different HPI vehicles in the last 3 years. To those who have it and are experienced about such things: how smooth is that belt-drive? Belt tensioner? Is that body prepainted? Any spare parts or anything included? Tires preglued? Shoot I might order one next week just for the heck of it. I'll have to choose between that and about 4-6 new packs for my E-zilla.
