Default xmods drifting

i know xmods have been out for a while now but my friend had one and broke it. he gave the car to me and i fixed it in 5 min with some sauder. (sp.) well i spent some money on drift tires and AWD for it and it would drift but it didnt have a one way front. so it pulled and spun too easily. i pullled the front dif. off and put sticky tack in it. once i got outside i was driftin like mad. its fun and prolly easier then with a nice 1/10 scale car but i have no money and no job so any thoughts on xmods. any one have one? oh ya i also have a light set for it and thats pretty cool.

haha, yeah they have been out for a while. but i have one that i got before i got my nitro rc and they can be pretty fun. they're cheap to mod and fix so thats a plus. a few pointers i have.....these are best for indoor areas, they're just so light that streets tend to have them hopping all over the place. for drifting, i would suggest the skyline body, and a 5 or 6cell mod, along with the white motor with spinbrush magnets. the SB magnets give you more torque. if you go with the 5 or 6cell mod, try and do every little thing you can to shave some of the extra weight off. everything i just descibed above and this little thing was pretty cool till i hit my kitchen wall and busted one of the front dogbones. unfortunately, i would have had to buy a new AWD kit to fix this, so i pretty much gave up on xmods then. here's a pic of it with the 6cell mod....for more info try out www.tinyrc.com (i dont know if im allowed to link to other sites on the forums here, so if not will one of the moderators edit this)

skyline with custom front bumper and shaved rear spoiler and new paintjob

sorry i couldnt find the pic i had of the 6cell installed

ya it is bumpy but i have tile indoors so the concrete drive way isnt too bad til you hit a crack and its all over lol. i have a 350z and havnt seen any pics of anyone having the 350z body. but it drifts pretty good but i wish the batteries would last longer. not that they dont last that long its just that i dont want to stop. well i guess its my first step to the 1/10 scale drifters : )

you could potentially use two AA-sized lithium-ions (li-ions, seriously, not lithium-doped alkalines) and wire them in parallel. i did this for a while, it works well with pvc/RS drift kit. 1.2 less volts doesn't affect the servo too much (it's crappy regardless), and so you can get a good 1.5 hours of run time with the two li-ions in parallel.

i used to run a 350Z; then i broke that chassis and built up a scooby. xmods are good fun, but like rs4 said better suited for indoors. even if you have tile indoors, it's probably easier to drive on (and clean up the car afterwards) than outdoor concrete.

if you'd like to stick to 1/28 scale drifting there's always the mini-z AWD. just a thought.

hehe i used to have an xmod, until it flipped and fell off a ledge. The wheels were broken off, and there was smoke coming from the electronics

Yay, 6-cell is the max, Without LiPo,

Also you might want to consider FET's if you'll be using high-performance motors!
