OK Here Is a Quick Run Down. on Drift Tyres
Lets Start with Cheap and Move to Expensive
PVC
50mm PVC is the Choice of most Stock motor sliders, Yes, If you want to get Sliding and Sliding Very Quickly PVC is the Go
Its White, Tough and Durable.
Suitable for Smooth Tarmac and Concrete
Average Duration of 1 Set : 120min per Set (Average)
Grip : Next to None.. Braking is next to impossible.
Suited to : Stock Motors
Paint Can Lids
Yes thats Correct, the Lids off Spray Pack Cans Can be Glued onto Stock Rubber Tyres and used for drift
Comes in what ever Color you bought the Spray can for..
Mr Sheen and Fly Spray Caps can be used on 1:10 Scale Touring rims and Smaller Tamiya Paint Cans can be used on the Micro Drifters..
Grip: Marginally Better then PVC
Average Duration of 1 Set : 15mins-30mins
Suited to : Stock Motors
ABS Black Polypipe
This is the Prefered tyre of Choice for most Drifters Its Black, More Realistic Looking but Being a Softer compound, it
does offer more Grip then PVC at the Sacrifice of Run times and Cost..
ABS Costs more then PVC, is Harder to track down 50-52mm for 1:10 scale Touring Car Rims
Grip : Slippery but more Grip then PVC
Average Duration : Depending on Thickness of actual ABS : 45min to 90mins
Suited to : Stock Motors
Drift Radials
These are Hard Compound Rubber Tyres with a tread pattern in them.. They Cost A Fair Amount..
Yokomo, Pit shimizu and HPI offer Drift Radials
They have Grip, So Braking is Improve but In order to Slide Effectively, You will need a Motor of around 20-17 Turns to Drift Effectively..
These are the Recommended choice for Nitro Drifters...
Grip: Alot more then ABS, Which , If you have a stock motor can cause dissapointment
Average Duration : 2-4Hours per set, less for Nitro
Suited to : Nitro Motors and Electric motors with 20Turns or Less
Drift Slicks
They Cost alot !
They are a Plastic/ Hard Rubber Compound Tyre with no Tread Pattern...
They have a Tad more Grip then ABS but are for more Easier to slide
then a Drift Radial..
Some Offer Drift Rings which are ABS Inserts into the Actual Tyre itself and others use Just plain hard compound poly rubber compound
Grip: More then ABS but less then a Drift Radial
Average Duration: Varies between companies
Suited to ; Anyone who can Afford them..
