Hey its me again well i'm still on my friends acc but i'm gonna make my own in a lil while
I can't wait untill my car gets here tomorrow so me an my friend decided to throw some wheels and abs on his lathe
here is how they turned out, the abs slips on and is quite snug
just for extra protection we are tacking the abs on the back of the wheel with hot glue to the rim so we can change the abs tires that we made easially

It's 63mm outside diameter pipe. Don't know if ABS or PVC. It's so big I had to add extra cardboard to fill the empty space. The chassis is a no name replica, a bit heavy but it's going well.

but ya i'm pretty sure they will fit and even if they don't i'll just throw em back on the lathe

what did u have to do to the rims to get those to fit, and how did you cut the pipe?

Just a quick q. With offset wheels, when they say offset does that mean how far the design of the wheel is inside the outer wheel?

dayam legend those are the best cut and best lookin abs wheels ive ever seen....

you can find ABS in a local hardware store such as home depo (find the pvc and the black stuff next to it is abs it really isn't that hard)
and sry that I haven't checked the forums in a while I just bought a new airbrush and painted my first body

and to answer the question of how we cut the abs
LivingLegend has a workshop so we used his horizontal bandsaw to rough cut the size then we threw em on a metal lathe to get it down to the exact width
and depending on the wheels you have you might need to sand down the edges, the hpi ones I got we had to lathe down a little bit to make it fit in the ABS but the wheels that came with my TT-01 slid in and fit quite snug

and to quickly explain offset it is basically the position of the surface that comes in contact with the hub of the car from the center of the wheel's width
for example the rims I just ordered for my 85 Toyota Corolla GTS hatch are Work Equip 03's 15x8 0 offset
15 is the size in inches of the rim 8 is the width in inches and the offsett is how many mm the portion of the wheel that comes in contact with the hub is from the center
15x8 -15 offset means that the wheel will mount to the car 15mm twards the back of the rim and give you more dish but will may cause fitment problems
15x8 +40 is a fwd offset and means that the wheel will mount 40mm closer to the front of the rim
it all figures out to around 3in of polished lip but doesn't change the fact that i've been waiting 3 weeks and still have to wait for another 3-5 before I get them

would a compound mitre saw work?

i would sugest not usnig hot glue to mount the abs, rather put tape around that acuall rim then smack the abs on the outside with a rubber mallot, i used the hotglue method when i first mounted my whells, and it worked for aobut 5 mins then my left rear flew off. it was also my first time runing the car. lol

ya hot glue it a bad idea because those wheels will heat up and melt the glue off easy... could CA glue be used then just some nail polish remover to get it off???

ya doesnt even work on tycos and S^#% LOL

and on the whole hot glue thing it works really well if you put the glue on underneath where the ABS goes before you squeeze the ABS on I have been using/abusing mine for a while now and they haven't come off

and me an legend have been thinking that if some people are just havein alot of trouble with the wheels we might make some it they payed for materials and a bit for our trouble

but we were woundering if anybody would be interested in buying pre cut ABS rings

I just buy the ABS off of ebay, its 10 bucks shipped for 3 sets and they are machined on the outside so they actually look like tires. I'll gladly cough up the 10 bucks as opposed to cutting and routering that stuff.

also the fit on HPI wheels is perfect, no glue or cardboard or anything, just push them through then hammer the last part with something heavy and flat ebough to cover the entire rim. (I used a marble book end)

On another subject what brand and model are those wheels? they look Like Volks, but I havt not found a company that makes that style.
