I have the Super Stock RZ motor with a Robinson Racing 19T 48P pinion and stock TT-01 spur gear. When i looked on the back of the RZ box, it shows what seems to be like "recommended" setups for different chassis. Under TT-01, it shows 22T and 61T. Since i cant read the Japanese, i'm assuming this is pinion and spur. Picture is below:

Now i currently run the setup with the 19T pinion and the motor gets extremely hot to the touch. I even have the heatsink and you can't touch the motor without getting burned. I have the GT Tuned motor on a TL-01 and stock pinion/spur and that thing barely gets hot; i can touch it without getting burned.
How many teeth is the stock TT-01 spur gear, and should i gear the motor according to the RZ specs on the box (anyone read Japanese)?? Also, if the stock TT-01 spur gear is not 61T, where can i buy one for the TT-01??
I found this to be a really good high-torque motor for drifting and hope to keep it.
Thanks.

Then go wit their reccomendations. thats what happens with highturn motors. you only do that with lower turns of motors(Seeming how they are faster and wont burn up easy. or is like this: Higher turn motors= high tooth pinion. lower turn motors= low toothed pinion

Hmm... i see. The RZ is 23 turn, so i can try a 16T or 17T pinion. What about the spur?? Will the Tamiya 16T/17T pinion work with the stock spur??

I'm worried about the spacing between the pinion and spur as i drop teeth on the pinion. I'd probably have to get a bigger spur for anything lower than 18T.
My shopping list:
Tamiya 55T/58T spur set
Tamiya 19T/18T pinion set
Tamiya 17T/16T pinion set
That should about do it. Hopefully the 58T spur will close the gap with the 17T/16T pinions.
Thanks for the help.

Well, found out that the stock TT-01 spur is 61T. According to the RZ box, i should be running 22T pinion on this spur.
What do you guys think? I may be buying a 22T pinion here soon.

Brushed up on my Katakana, i can read most of the box.
TT-01 "shiyashi" (chassis), 22T "piniongiya" (pinion), 61T "supaagiya" (super gear, aka spur)
I'm gonna try the 22T pinion and see what happens. I'll let you guys know when I run a full battery.

I run the 22T/61 combo on my 14x2T
You will need the Stock 61 Spur for the TT-01 as the propshaft is different on a TB-02..
Always get Tamiya gears for Tamiya cars..
Tamiya use different measurements to other companies.
With the 22T/61T combo you get great acceleration and reasonable top end..
For more Top End run a 19T and 61 Spur ( Tamiya's Stock Gearing)
