Default tt-01 diff ques.

ok just got a tt-01 to build as a drifter...read a lot of the info on here and most was useful, but I have some questions.....1 should I put a one-way in the front?what are the benefits? and is there a way to lock the rear?and should I?has anyone seen this on ebay?STD5 Square Drift Setting Pack Tamiya TT-01 TT01 [link]http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT &viewitem=&item=6008182776&rd=1&rd=1[/link] is that a spool or locker in the bag,and if it is where can I get one without the whole kit?...ok a lot of questions, but I know there are a lot of answers on rcu

Yeah, that is a solid spool in the bag, you can achieve the same effect by filling your rear diff with blu-tac(poster tape) as you put the cogs in.

A front one way is used by a couple of the boys at D1RC, others use it for a tighter track, it creates a handbrake style effect so if you come of the throttle as you enter the turn it will swing the rear round, some swear by it, others dont, I got an 03f and its so good it really doesn't need one tight track or not.

I was cheeky and bodged a TA03 front one-way in the front of my TT01; and it worked, briefly. The effect was achieved, and certainly helped me out on the tighter turns.

C9vev- do you run a front one-way in the TA03? Or were you using one the other week? I sorta have one already....

I work in a Tamiya dealers (as you may well know) and I noticed that a front one-way for a TT01 is £49.99

The one for a TA03/TGS is £18.99.....

I knew the TT01 shared diffs with the TGS, so I bought it. It performed well, but the driveshafts had to be swapped over and when applying full lock; I lost the driveshafts.

Great ideas don't always work. Now I'll have to get me a TA03F instead.

I just tryed this with my TT 01 I used electrical tape in both front and rear Diff and man the thing drifts great with both diffs locked up!. Plus a added advantage when it goes off the pavement into the gravel it actually has enough bite to get back on ( before It'd just spin one front and one back wheel and go no wear)

I found with a front Locked Diff it lost turn in, so I unlocked mine

as for the front one way, I found it would just plough through corners, it wouldnt kick the tail out as there was no power applied when braking, just a free wheeling action which didnt help

So my Drift TT-01 runs a Stock front Diff and a Blu Tac locked rear.. Kicks the tail out at will and is easy to keep it out and will handle Technical and Broad Drift..

That Could be Why It works for me. I have Yokomo drift tires (without rings 'cause I snapped em all trying to put them on!, Damn fat fingers!!) and a Fireball 19 DT that I retarded the timing on. But it was definitely easier to get it sideways and keep it there while going at a good pace. before it'd either get too slow and straighten out or turn in too tight and go right around. I am not real good at drifting yet but this defently helped me.
