Its regular asphalt, but its new, and doesnt have chippings, and pebbles everywhere like old asphalt does. I think ill be fine with the belt.
ould someone please answere these questions
1. If i have a choice between 0, 1 ,and 2 deg rear hub carriers which ones are best for drifting?
2. Are swaybars a good thing to have for drifting?
3. What are some hop-ups that will make the car a better drifter?

Think you will want bout 1 deg toe in at the rear, I dont run swaybays, some do some dont, its down to how you find it, same with other hop ups, the 05 wont really need any, jus want the rear diff v.tight, almost locked, front wants to be pretty tight too, theres loads of things to go through, one-way or not, hard or soft suspension so on, u best find a place with more drifting answers about the 05, there is one!
Good luck with the 05, u cant really go wrong with a Tamiya mate, dont be too suprised tho after you got it set perfect for you and someone just glides on by ridin a 10 yr old 03f, the drift king lol!

I highly doubt is that much bette the the Ta-05. An honeslty drifting is like 92% driver 6% set-up, and 2%car. On rcmart they sell 3 different rear alumnum hub carriers, a 0 deg, a 1 deg, and a 2 deg. Im definete getting one of them, but which one is best for drifting?
Here they are:

And I highly doubt that you really know, obviously you have competed in an RC Drift championship all year against all sorts of chassis to see how each of them runs to be able to accurately distribute your percentages accordingly, everyone is entitled to their own opinion so I dont mind what you think, I'm jus giving you the opinion of myself and some of the best drifters around the world, when you meet someone with an 03f, have a go with it mate, I think you may want to adjust your percentages accordingly, do you even understand that the 03f has the motor hanging out infront of the front wheels, its totally different to any other chassis, you might work your 05 hard and get say 4 or 5 perfect runs out of 20 but an 03 is so precise you would get say 15 or 16.
Like I said, have a hunt round the net, theres a load of info to be found on how to set your 05, I highly doubt you will find the answer to your question on this forum, no matter how many times you ask, I would suggest 1 deg rear but that again is just my opinion, good luck finding out, PM me if you want to know where to go for your info.

Ive been in this hobby for a long time, and unless drifting is comlete different then any other section of Rc cars, but there is absolute no toehr class where 1 car is that much better then everything else. Plus Im willing to bet that if the world champ of drifting had a ta-05 a ya bunch of time to get used to it, and a good set-up he would have no less chance of winning again. Drifting is even more driver orinted then any other section of Rc cars. Im sure that if i get the ta-05, get it set-up well, and practice its not like some punk with a Ta-03 whos just got it is gonna come out and run circles around me. Im not going to the "world championships im just doing it for fun

Lets just step back to the begining shall we, you asked what the best drifter for under $200 is, I told you (and its not just my opinion, wherever you ask you will hear the same)
You said you highly doubted it, I said do some research.
You asked 3 questions about the 05, I answered them and said you could prob find more info elsewhere adding that the 1999 Tamiya will still be a better drifter.
You came out with some figures which I dont agree with so I replied, I even offered to help you with finding out about the 05 again.
I dont doubt you been into RC a long time, I haven't but grip racing aint my bag, yeah I'm biased towards my car but thats only because I see and I know that it has an edge over others, good luck with the 05 its a good chassis, least you ain't buyin a TT-01
See you in another place sometime, a place where all the info flows freely across the screen!

Haha is this man offending you Cavey? shall we take him outside and tell him what for?
You quoted that you would doubt that with a correctly set up TA05, nobody could touch you.
I would bet money on Cavey HIMSELF, using his TA03, WOULD run circles around you.
Just because it's old, makes no difference. There is no weight over the rear in comparison with the TA05; and the tourque this car displays makes it easy to 'slip' into a drift.
Tamiya knew their stuff too. Why else would they release a 'drift spec' version last year otherwise?
Don't be arrogant; you came in looking for opinions, you got one, you criticised it, and you sir, were wrong!
Chris.
