Greetings. We've decided on the TT-01. Will most likely order from Tower Hobbies. Since we are having to order the kit, what parts should we also get as replacements?? No local hobby shop to just run over to. What will break, and what should be upgraded?
Thanks

upgrade your stock shaft to the alloy prop shaft, ball bearings, and Yokomo Zero 1 R Single Wide ring version tires. Some will tell you in a heartbeat,"ABS", "PVC" these are plastic tires that the "Pros" Supposevly use. The tires depend on your budget.

Well the main reason alot of us use ABS or PVC instead of the yokomo drift tires is because its ALOT cheaper. I can get 2 meters of ABS pipe for $8AUD which lets me make well over 22 tires. If I went with the Yokomo wide strip drift tires then 2 would cost me $18AUD. You do the math ![Wink](https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Plus ABS/PVC lets you maintain longer drifts with amore severe drift angle
and its all about the style and angle after all

The other thing that I dont like about the yokomo wide band tires is that once the ABS band starts to wear down some and the rubber side strips start to grip, you can get some unpredictable handling characteristics. ABS stays very predicatable right down to the point where yoour about to start riding on the rim itself. This is just my personal opinion based on my experience with them. I just got a second set with my Yokomo MR-4TC SD CM which I'm about to start building so I'll see if these factory mounted ones act any different.

amen to that !!
1 Metre does 36, 26 mm Tyres so thats $4 for 9 sets of Tyres
Yokomo Drift Rings are way to expensive to go Drifting on...
ABS/PVC and Poly pipe way cheaper and loads more fun once you have learned Basic Car control..
So Lets Do the Maths
so $8 for 18 Sets of PIPE Tyres (72 Tyres)
or $324 for 18 YokomoTyres.. (4.5 sets of 4 Tyres)
mmm... Lets See.
Poly pipe Last Longer..
Yokomo is an Over priced Brand name...

Greetings again. Thanks for the suggetions. After looking at some other cars I found that the Tamiya Subaru Impreza WRC '05 TT-01D with the drift spec comes with everything that was suggested to upgrade and is cheaper than buying all the hopups. So my question is should I just get the Tamiya Subaru Impreza WRC '05 TT-01D with the drift spec or stay with the TT-01?
Thanks

Spartan-Drifter, Thanks for the input, you seem to be very knowledgeable. What tires would you suggest? We have built a set of pvc tires for an off-road truck, just could not get the 2wd to drift.
Thanks

thanks mrblue. Most will tell nag you with gettin PVC or ABS Pipe. Me on the other hand, recommend the yokomo zero 1 r "Single Wide Drift Ring Version" tires; thats if you can afford to replace the drift ring everytime its worn. If budget is an issue, get abs. But if you want that real tread look, get those yokomo tires I recommended

I have a tt-01 myself and the only things you need are a smooth surface and tape..
Just fit the tape around the wheels and you will be drifting!
You might have to experiment with different kinds of tape.
