need some info
Ok so I finally got my car working so I can drift but am having a problem with the belt coming off all the time when i go in reverse. I have a Losi XXX-S. Got the stock motor and esc in it. Thats the first thing i need help with. Next I wanna change my esc so I can get a different motor and put in it. I dont know what esc to go with. I was looking at novak but cant afford anything there really so I started looking at LRP and found [link]http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=19570[/link]Need some input for that and I want to go with a 13 or 12t motor just something that has more speed so I need some information on motors and finally I also would like to know where I could get a heat sink because I am having problems with it getting extremely hot. If I could get help I would appreciate it. Thanx Bones

Are you coming to a complete stop before you go into reverse? and how lose is your belt?
for that much money I would look at the mamba max esc. it will run brushed to no limits and brushless.
what is getting extremely hot? the motor? the esc? the batteries?

yes i do come to a complete stop and the belt is not loose which is why i dont understand why its coming off. the motor is what is getting too hot, the esc gets warm and so do the batteries.

This is counterintuitive, but loosen your belt some. when its too tight there is no slack int the belt, no way for it to absorb jolts and therefore ends up slipping. naturally too loose is bad too. experiment and see if it helps. as far as the motor being hot, it may be your gears. of course, motors get hot just normally. if your running the stock gearing you should be ok. now that I think of it your motor may be getting too hot because your belt is too tight.

No trying to start an argument or anything but, They both have their Pro's and Con's,
If it makes you feel better i have a shaft and a belt(XXX-S).

i use to have a schumacher mi3.. 4wd belt.. i hated it, get a stone or it gets to dusty it fails...
BUT....
my friend has one and he loves it...
as the dude firestriker mentioned its what you like, also if you can get the back up parts for it...
shaft it easier in a way, and wont cause to much prob's,, but a belt imoa is smoother on a nice surface...
look at if you can get parts, if its able to be upgraded and also if the company.. e.g, xray, hpi has a good customer service!!... if something goes wrong you dont want to phone them and they laugh and hang up!!...[X(]
