The mods have kept this thread nice and clean, but it's time for a bump. (Must collect more information!)

Default RE: Drifter Survey (Car Setups & Performance)

1. How long have you been drifting - Just over a year, never had an RC before

2. How often do you drift? - Once a week, couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon, competition bout every 6 weeks or so

3. Cars - Tamiya TA05, Tamiya TA03f, Tamiya TL-01, also had Tamiya TT-01

4. Battery - Cheap E-Bay specials 3300-4200

5. ESC - Novak XRS

6. Motor - Yokomo D1SP 19t

7. Tires - Yokomo Sigle ring drift tyres

8. Pinion to Spur Ratio - Varies depending on track/chassis

9. Servo - Currently Futaba S2003

10. Radio - Spektrum DX3.0, Fufaba 2pl

11. Upgrades - TA05, 3racing carbon/blue alloy everything, cant find anything left to buy!
TA03f Carbon chassis, black option parts, mix of Asiatees/Tobee/Yeah racing/ Tamiya
TL01 Speed tuned gears, bearings
TT01 Bearings, adjustable top arms

12. How much did you pay?- Darent add it all up, got to be at least £1500 in the last year

Subjective Observations:

1. How does it drift? TA03f is the god of drifting, perfect transitions positions, controlability etc, TA05 is nearly as good

2. What is your runtime? Prob bout 30-45 mins a batt

3. Is there a specific surface it performs best? Smooth ashphalt is best, harden suspension a bit for carpet

4. Is the car balanced drifting to the left and right equally, or does it drift to one side easier. TA03f is perfect, TA05 has a bit of extra ballast on one side to help out

5. Describe the performance characteristics of your car, compare and contrast if possible to other setups you've had or seen first hand.
TA03f has the best transitions and is easier to position,
TA05 takes a bit more work but is just about there with some weight on the front bumper
TL01 is a bit of a heavyweight dinosaur,
TT01 is OK, tends to wash wide during drifts

3. Car: Tamiya TA05
4. Battery: IB3800-4200
5. ESC: Mamba Max

2. What is your runtime? (Range: race/bash): 40-60min
3. Is there a specific surface it performs best? Rough concrete
4. Is the car balanced drifting to the left and right equally, or does it drift to one side easier. Both equaly
5. Describe the performance characteristics of your car, compare and contrast if possible to other setups you've had or seen first hand.: Like I said before I could be alot more balanced.

Default RE: Drifter Survey (Car Setups & Performance)

1. How long have you been drifting/race: almost two years
2. How often do you drift? (times per week/month): twice a month at meets and every few days at home
3. Car: HPI RS4 rally
4. Battery: Emoli 2s2p pack
5. ESC: traxxas XL-5
6. Motor: prototype 23T T-Bang motor
7. Tires: PE rings
8. Pinion to Spur Ratio: 33T/90T
9. Servo: Futaba FP-s148
10. Radio: MX3
11. Upgrades: Bone stock
12. How much did you pay?: 75

Subjective Observations:

1. How does it drift? Like buttah
2. What is your runtime? (Range: race/bash) about an hour
3. Is there a specific surface it performs best? seems to be equal on carpet, asphalt and concrete
4. Is the car balanced drifting to the left and right equally, or does it drift to one side easier. Due to the battery layout, it drifts either way equally well
5. Describe the performance characteristics of your car, compare and contrast if possible to other setups you've had or seen first hand. Gobs of torque for grabbing the lead and can maintain pretty much any line I throw at it.

3. Car - Hot Bodies Cyclone / Tamiya TT01
4. Battery - GP3300

12. How much did you pay? B4 upgrades Cyclone (100 dollars New) TT01 (60 dollars New) After everything Cyclone (300) TT01 (120)

Subjective Observations:

1. How does it drift? Both Cars Drift Great, the cyclone needs a little tuning to switch back faster
2. What is your runtime? (Range: race/bash) 45min +
3. Is there a specific surface it performs best? Depends on the surface and tires. tt01 kills at Socal Speedway
4. Is the car balanced drifting to the left and right equally, or does it drift to one side easier. Both cars are balanced

1. 12 Months
2. 3 -5 Times a week.
3. Tamiya TB02
4. Venom 3800 NiMH 7.2v Stick
5. Futaba FC230CR
6. Tamiya Super Stock RZ 23T
7. Anything and Everything depending on surface
8. 19T/58 (I Think)
9. Hitec HS311 (I know cheapskate :P)
10. JR XS3
11. Sway Bar Kit, Tightened up rear diff, otherwise stock.
12. $130 AU for the TB02 new. Radio gear I have from my nitros. Engine and ESC etc around $110 AU

Subjective Observations:

1. The TB02 drifts great right out of the box even with just electrical tape around the stock tyres. The addition of something like the Super Stock RZ or your choice of motor makes this car to me sheer bliss. (I have limited experience with 1/10th onroad so cant speak for its performance compared to other cars.)
2. 45min +
3. Any flat surface. It will do awesome high speed drifting on carpet.
4. The car has always been very balanced in its handling and drifts equally both directions

I'd like to just gather some information on your setups.

Basic Stats:

1. How long have you been drifting/race: drifting 1 year/racing (offroad) 2 years
2. How often do you drift? (times per week/month): about 3-4 times a week
3. Car Yokomo SD and SSG
4. Battery Venom 4600, going lipo soon.
5. ESC Novak XRS (SD) and Novak GTX (SSG)
6. Motor Charmeleon 19x2 (SD) Novak 8.5 (SSG)
7. Tires ABS with groovy drift mod (for practice) Yokomo Single Rings (for sessions; and compititons)
8. Pinion to Spur Ratio depends on where were drifting. my median is 23/69
9. Servo Hitec 6965
10. Radio M11 with spektrum pro
11. Upgrades
SSG chassis with one way shaft (SSG)
one way diff (SD)
12. How much did you pay?
hehe. to much. I got spent so much on my onroad/drift thrive that i don't even know how much i spent anymore.
Subjective Observations:

1. How does it drift? great, just had to balance both chassis for drifting
2. What is your runtime? (Range: race/bash) about 20 min (full drift session)
3. Is there a specific surface it performs best? parking garage surface
4. Is the car balanced drifting to the left and right equally, or does it drift to one side easier. not really, after balance
5. Describe the performance characteristics of your car, compare and contrast if possible to other setups you've had or seen first hand.
i personally really picky on my setup. since i got into racing. i started seeing the difference when it is setup properlly and not setup up at all. i like it soft-medium on bumpy surfaces and and medium-stiff on smooth. just me though.

Default RE: Drifter Survey (Car Setups & Performance)

my turn

1. One year
2. everynight if not every second night
3. Hobao Hyper 10 electric
4. venom 1700mah ni-cd
5. No limit
6. Peak racing 15x2 raven
7. Yokomo's w/ single rings...or pvc
8. 26/90
9. 4kg hobao 101
10. Futaba attack 2.. Hobao reciever
11. Well the motor, pinion (now a 29t), esc, sway bars (stabilizers), graphite front and rear shock towers, graphite front diff plates, suspension ( stiffer springs) and belt tensioner[8D]
12. wouldnt you like to know lets just say its over the $600 mark

Subjective Observations:

1. My car drifts very well. i blow all nitro and electrics away at the track its very smooth and handles like a dream
2. i will get about a 15 to 20 mins run depending on how hard i throttle
3. it performs best on dead flat asphelt(grr how do u spell it lol i forgot). it is capable of driftin on paving and uneven surface too. you just got to know how to do it
4. the car is perfectly balanced drifts the same both ways. no torque steer either
5. my car i like to have the front diff deadlocked and the rear semi locked. i hate it when my gears dont mesh properly im a fusspot about it. i rebuild the car on a monthly basis just to give everything a service and greasing. on bumpy surface i mount my shocks further down the suspension arm and on smooth surface i mount them higher. .. i wont go on im starting to whinge now lol

take care everyone and merry chrissy .. bit late but yeah lol

Default RE: Drifter Survey (Car Setups & Performance)

Basic Stats:

1. How long have you been drifting: 4 months
2. How often do you drift? (times per week/month): 2-3x a day / 7 days a week
3. Car: TT-01D
4. Battery: 2 Radioshack 3300mAh, 2 piranha duratrax 2000mAh, 1 piranha duratrax 4200mAh
5. ESC: tamiya stock
6. Motor: tamiya sport tuned
7. Tires: stock/ABS
8. Pinion to Spur Ratio: stock
9. Servo: futaba 3001
10. Radio: futaba 2PL
11. Upgrades: aluminum shaft
12. How much did you pay? i stop counting

Subjective Observations:

1. How does it drift?: didn't really did much with the stock tires, only after i changed to ABS.
2. What is your runtime? (Range: race/bash) 4200=1hr+(but i usually stop after 1hr), 3300=40-50mins, 2000=25-35mins
3. Is there a specific surface it performs best? i normally drift on parking area, drifts well in asphalt roads
4. Is the car balanced drifting to the left and right equally, or does it drift to one side easier. it drifts well on 1 side before tuneup, maybe because of the weight of the batt...
5. Describe the performance characteristics of your car, compare and contrast if possible to other setups you've had or seen first hand.
as mentioned, after assembly i didn't really had fun with the stock tires, only after i changed it to ABS. tight turns was impossible also and the car tends to over steer. after a 2degree negative camber i was able to control the drift but i read somewhere that it's best to use 0 camber for ABS tires and so i did & the same problem as before came back and tight turns was still impossible so i decided to add -1 degree camber and a little bit of toe out for tight turns. Now my car is a monster!!!

I just hope there are FRESNO, CA drifters out there so they/pro can help us with basic setup...
