Default Best for the money?

Hey guys i just cancelled my order for a t2 007 cus i want to go drifting

Can anyone suggest me a good rc car for drfiting? I heard Tamaya were good...

I have a $700 budget but that MUST include kit,motor,esc,batteries,servo,radio,plus everything else id need for a kit

Any suggestions?

btw iam a newb

yokomo has a RTD so you can just get that and buy the rims,tires,body,and paint. RTD = Ready To Drift look at http://yokomousa.com
edit: thats if you want to have it assembled for you or you could get a kit to build it yourself. Also, for motor there are a lot of kinds that have proven to drift. 19T to 35T motor

trust me dude its the best drifting machine you can get..... i personally like the AE86 but u got to by the radio,servo,battery,etc etc

U'd want to check for support for yoks before u buy them, they are great cars,

but parts are expensive and they usually dont have much aftermarket support,

On the other hand if u can afford it and can get urr hands on some parts then go for it!

dude.. i had a t2.. why not drift that...??

they are touring cars but on here people ( myself).. drift tt01's and sprint2, maybe the odd tb02 and etc...

the t2 is a great peice of kit, i would use lrp no limit esc, also a peak racing v2 19turn motor from dynasty,
hpi drift tyers,, hard compound

then that t2 will slide like she's on ice, the t2 has ball front aswell so it would be great...

also 3300+ for batt and a good charger.

I have a Yokomo. IN NC, there's no local support, but the site is hella good. Plus, it's one of the best around. yokomousa.com Check it out. They have many different packages available. with 700bux, you can pretty much get whichever one you want. They also have radios and....well, everything you need is available thru them.

You can also email or call them with any question cuz their contact info is on the website. They're out of Irvine California. Technically, Japan, but they have a headquarters office in Irvine.

Yokomo is one of the few chassis you can buy and drift out the box with no hop-ups. I will say, practice>car. I got a post explaining that.

As far as chassis, Yokomo is the best HERE. There's better chassis (that haven't been mentioned) but you'll have a harder time getting them than you would a Yokomo. At least Yok has a headquarters office here.

That being said, practice should not be understated. I've told this story before, but at our last team meeting, Justin and his TT01 with a 19t motor outdrifted EVERYONE for the better part of a 4hr period. Reason being, he had been practicing on that course almost everyday in the previous week and by the time we all got there (most of us not having seen the course in 2-5 weeks or more) he blew by us on a continual basis with ease. Now, once everyone got used to the track layout, fixed settings, etc..it was a pretty even playing field. But, I've said all that to say practice is really what makes you good. The car is a small percentage. The rest of us are runnig Yokomos or Team Assoc. Justin is the only one who runs the TT01 and he was DK (drift king) for the day.

Now, if everything is even, Yokomo will outdrift most chassis. The TAO3F is supposedly the best EVAR (never drove it, don't know), but the availability and support in America is VERY low...less than Yokomo. As I said before, local support for Yokomo is null in NC (I've checked NUMEROUS times), but they have a store in Irvine, CA. HPI (sprint2), Tamiya(tt01), and Team Associated (tc3,tc4,tc5) are all carried relatively localy and have relative local support.

Also keep in mind, drifting is not a very rigerous sport in rc. It's actually the lowest maintenance one. The speeds are slower so the stress to parts is less. Also, with slower speeds comes less crucial impacts, should you crash (and you will). So, rarely will you need to replace something.

Something else to keep in common is how much do you feel like assembling or hopping-up. Outside of the Yokomo and MAYBE the TC4, you will be hopping up or upgrading parts for what you get. Yokomo comes with everything you need out the box; all the settings, proper balance, durable parts, etc.. TC4, stock...well...you might want to upgrade wheel nuts cuz with drift wheels, it's hard to get at them, and possibly upgrade hubs. But, that's more preference. It's pretty good as is. That stuff is more precautionary. Everything else...look forward to searching for hop-up parts.

Another thing (got a lot, i know) where you gonna do your drifting. If a lot of it is outside and you don't like changing parts, TC4, and Yokomo are your only options. Everything else is belt driven. And belts don't like gravel, rocks, and debris. TC5 is belt driven as well.

So, all this comes down to this: if you want the least maintenance and the best package out the box, go Yokomo. If you can deal with a few things, and don't wanna pay Yokomo money, TC3/4. If you wanna do a bunch of hop-ups and you'll be drifting inside most of the time, Sprint2 or TT01.

That's my breakdown. Hope that helps.

my best bet is the tc4 since iam going to be going outside alot

anyways one more question

is the tc5 going to be faster than the tc4 which i know it might be obvious but i would like to know by how much if at all any

having a yokomo or and xray or anyother high end chassis doesnt, I REPEAT DOESNT make you a good drifter. what determines a good drifter is practice practice and more practice. why get an expensive high end touring car when your gonna crash a good few times before u get the hang of drifting. a tt01 witch is one of the most cheapest yet capable drifters can out drift any high end rc. aslong as you have the skill and practice hours. and about witch will go faster tc4 or tc5. think about it. witch determines speed more, chassis or motor. i would think motor. so that should answer your question. but in theory the tc5 might have a little more top end because it is belt driven and more efficeint but it will lag a tiny bit when u give it throttle because the belt can stretch but its hardly noticeable. the tc4 would have a direct response to your throttle input. and when you put really fast motors in shaft driven chassis's they can easily have torque steer witch is when your car steers to one side because your motor is so strong. belts dont have that problem because their motors mount like this || shaft chassis's mount like this --- and its yokomo and tamiya not yokoma and tamaya. and also just because a rc has drift in the name doesnt mean its gonna drift better than any other rc. hope this helps.

hears the deal if you have 700 buks to play with you could do 1 of 2 things. Buy an expencive car right from the start, or you could buy a mildly ex car and upgrade it as you find things you dislike about it as you use it. you wont know what you need untill you use it. Honestly i havent drifted a yoko so i cant compare but from what i hear they are good cars, now on another note I ahve the tt-01R, its an unassembaled kit comes with Full set of bearings, aluminum prop shaft, oil filled cva shocks. now since this chassis is cheap but very effective you can upgrade things as you go, like sway bars, flourine coated shock set, chassis baces aluminum stering rack w/bearings, etc... the upgradability of the tt-01's is endless and the parts are cheap. as for motor and esc, go big or go home man if you have the money go for a brushless setup, its more efficiant and it just kicks @$$ anyways. tires, make your own, if you have a chop saw and some 2" ID abs just giver make a few sets and buy some ballin rims chuck em on and away you go. so to sum it up, I think you should go either a nice yok or a tt-01 R nice chassis fully adjustable almost half the price of a yok (go tower hobbies there amazing) have fun!
