i am thinking about selling/analing/throwing away my tt-01 because of all its problems. For example, whenever i throttle for the first time after i let go of the throttle, it automatically steers to the right a bit... *** so if i just keep throttling it without steering i do continuous donuts to the right... also, they gave me a defect servo... ***... im never trusting hobby central to assemble my kit... they charged me 100 bucks too! what a ripoff? or is it?
should i just keep this r/c and upgrade it? or should i buy a HPI Sprint 2 which i like and like the price but i dont know how it runs. is the sprint 2 good??

the tt-o1 has given alot of people problems including me.
hpi is a great brand of car. i have 4 rs4s and im about to buy a savage on july 4th. aka today!!! its 12:40
but dont throw this car away. rebuild it yourself and make it your own. its a good starting point. but it does need some help from stock.

BUll ****!!!
your servo might be set up wrong or your steering trim.
Also the tt01's steering assembly can be loosened by adding washers to the bottom of the arm which attaches in the middle of the arm to the tub frame.
The tt01 does have slop on the steering but can be fixed easily if you try stuff. And btwthe tt01 is a strong well balanced beginners car. I still use a tt alongside my trf415, ta05, ta03f pro and tl01. So believe me its not a bad car. just bearwith the problems and try to fix it, starting with the smallest thing. Like to a light rebuild and relube of the steering assembly and front uprights. then check for slop (wheel movement, eg. from side to side etc. and fix that using shims/spacers)
Make sure the uprights are lubed correctly and not overtightened.
Check screws for over tighneing or cracked parts.
Make sure the steering arms are not catching on something like the front on the tub.

rc3dprodigy , dude you dont know what you talking about and everyone has their brand.
I like tamiya, schumacher (kinda) and HPI. But none of them are bad and NEWBY, newby cars are the academy, HBX and acme cars. (i know i know HBX is built on a tl01 design)

I'm with Infernox. Saying that Tamiya is a bad brand is total BULL!!
The TT01 is a solid starter and if your really keen (or just like to bling out all your chasis like me) then you can turn the TT01 into quite a good drift machine like mine for example

Try all the things Infernox suggested he pretty much covered off all the usual problem areas. Slop is the main thing you need to get rid of from the steering and the best way to do that is to upgrade ot the Alum. steering set. Its also a good idea to replace the stock servo saver because that generates 90% of the steering slop. I personaly dont care if I trash a cheap servo so I glued the servo saver and then screwed it on. My steering is now totaly slop free.

Go and check out my bling red aluminium tt01 in the drifters section.... all the hop ups you can imagine.
what you can do that helps alot is get the GPM or tamiya alloy steering assembly and replace the white bushings (plastic round white things) with Xmods bearings. Good lord what a difference. Steering is less alot of slop and the steering is real smooth.
Im running a high torque metal geared servo and whhaaaaa its awesome.
tt is a awesome drifter for anyone, newb or experienced. My ta03 has understeer and i love that, but the tt is a all round car which doesnt break alot.

tamiya is a very bad brand

they charged me 100 bucks too
makes me laff people buy kits then moan when they have to work on them, the tt-01 needs a lot of hopups to make it run smooth and even then it isnt the best drift car out there, but bang for buck its a great starter car,and can outdrift the best if you get enough pratice in

Um, sorry to go off topic but, exactly what are suggesting you do to your TT-01 here? See bold text.

the tt-o1 is a very newb car. and tamiya is a very bad brand. the only reason there popular is that they were like the first people to offer replacement parts.
hpi is a great brand of car. i have 4 rs4s and im about to buy a savage on july 4th. aka today!!! its 12:40
but dont throw this car away. if you dont want it taking space up ill pay shipping and ship it to me. i really need a motor for my tc3.

TAMYIYA IS NOT A BAD BRAND!!
They have made some of the greatest cars of all time. The TT-01 is not a "newb" car. It is just as good as any other drifter. It just doesn't cost as much!

Tamiya a bad brand? haha TT-01 is a great beginning car and also its a very competitive car as well. For the what its worth $80, its cheap, its strongs, its good to have fun with. My tamiya is fully hop-up also running a GTB/Velocity 6.5 brushless system on it[>:]. Go rebuild your car man, It take me a good 45mins to assembly one.

Ok now this comment to be honest says it all:
This is a prime example of why I always say to people that building a kit from the ground up is always a much better way to go than buying something RTR. If you had built the TT01 yourself then right now you would already have a rough idea of not only where the problem might be but also how to get in there to fix it. Building a chasis yourself gives you a much better understanding of the car.
I'm not even going into the fact that you paid $100 for something that you could have easily done yourself in one night. I personally would have bought some nice hopups with that $100.

you know what, the only reason people have problems with the tt01 in its stock form is either
1. they dont build it themselves, thus they dont understand how it works
2. they build it but pay no attention to what they are doing, thus loosing washers or not checking where they are overtighening.
3. THe biggest problem is and this is where all the moaning comes from, most tt01 owners are first RC owners (drifting or racing) and dont understand how stuff works and how to fix it, so that means they think the car is rubbish, spend a bit of time on this forum, alot of people (newbie's) have the same problems and the sulotion is normally quick and easy and even easier to solve using patience and reading through some of this forum.
After a while a person gets into it, and starts understanding their chassis and then fixing becomes easy.
I battled in the beginning aswell, had a tl01 then a tt01, but now i can assemble a tt without the manual, almost with my eyes closed. And problems, i solve them in less than a minute. all because i had patience and learnt how my car worked.
to the dude who has the problem. when you ask some stores to build acheap chassis, they dont think highly of it, just another way of making money, so they dont pay attention.
rebuild your car, its fun and you learn stuff, also you can tighten the diff correctly for some good drifting. the stock tt01 is a awesome drifter, just needs al shaft and bearings and I will outdrift most people out there.

i got a STOCK tt01 and it has not had any problems at all. i built it myself so i think if you rebuild it yourself (like infernox said) it should work fine
