Can anyone out there give a newbie advice on what hop ups are needed to convert a standard TT 01 to drift spec? I have put drift tyres on but there has to be more I can do. What do the TT 01D's have that the standard ones dont? Cheers.....

Yeah they are ordered and on the way....as is a front and rear sway bar set. Am I going to have to make it rear wheel drive only? - Or will it be ok in 4WD? And excuse my dumbness, but what is a pinion? Thanks for your reply it's much appreciated.

4WD is needed for Drift... changing it to a 2WD or RWD will just make it harder to slide...
A Drift Spec TT-01 Would require:
Alloy Prop shaft.
Ball Bearings
Oil Filled Shocks
Then need Drift Spec Tyres...

I have ordered the following,
engine heat sink
alloy main shaft
teflon bearings
oil shocks (which springs do I run?)
front and rear sway bars (will I need the carbon upper deck?)
HPI wheels and drift slicks
I have also just impulse purchased a tamiya Super Stock TZ motor. The guy said it would work with the current ESC/transmitter I have that came with the car as part of the EB series. I hope he's right yeah? I'm also hoping it is faster than the stock 540!?
I really don't want to change the ESC if I dont have to.
I'm also wondering about what the pinion is and what size I should get if it will help.
Will I or should I muck around with the gearing?
Thanks again guys!

BTW has anybody experienced their TT's doing tighter donuts in one direction to the other? I'm wondering if i'm going to have to replace the stock steering as well? There is a lot of movement/slack in all the wheel arms etc. Does that improve with alloy parts?

No there is some steering Bias in a TT-01.. its normal
Stock Gearing is fine for drifting.. and the ESC MIGHT thermal on the TZ motor but then again it might not..

Motor will be fine on that ESC m8
and a pinion is the cog that goes on the end of the motor shaft and connects to the spur gear(which drives the shaft)
pinion sizes alter gearing so bigger pinion and smaller spur = more top end and smaller pinion and bigger spur = more torque but less speed.
23/58 gearing is nice for drifting ive found.

Just to let you know you will need a carbon upper deck to mount the sway bars

Ahhh i know i'm bein a pain in the ass but can someone please give me a heads up on these arms? I've bought the top deck too! So dont wanna have all this crap and not be able to fit it. I guess I need the full name of the parts cause I dont know what arms your talkin about. If someone could give a part number that would be a massive help.

Tomcat just to let you know, to mount the sway bar set you will need the carbon upper frame and the adjustable suspension arms, both parts purchased seperately.

This is a great thread. I've got a TT-01 on the way and I needed a lot of this information as well. One other thing... I'm thinking about how I want my car to look as well and have an idea in mind. The question is, what size wheels do I need for this car? I want to make sure I get the right size, obviously.

Someone says in another post that the tt-01 suffers from a one way steering bias due to weight ratio. If you used a lipo wouldnt that be more power and less weight? try and even the car out.
