My son really wants a new RC with his birthday money but he (and I) have only really every raced nitro trucks so electric is kinda new to me and he wants a drifter after playing with one at a local event (and not wanting to put the controller down as he wasnt too bad) he has been looking round the forums and found some information and went off and found this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...2BSI%26otn%3D4 no according to him the tt-01 is good for drifting but he is unsure to tires and motor and general set up?

let me get to the point, basicaly what would I have to do to make this drift (if it can) and how much I am looking at? (i live in the UK and the limit is £200)

Now if you can find anything at all better please feel free to link me but I don't think he is looking for something he has to build and set up as I dont think he would know where to start to set up a car for drift so I guess its RTR.

ok so I had a look around and I have found this http://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.ph...n&ItemID=24619 it's a lil over his budget but seeing as I broke the one of the carbon A struts on one of his trucks last week I will help him on his way I think this would be a good choice and it's all together and from what I have seen on the internet its good (and I know Yokomo are a good brand) So guys you reckon he will be ok with this one?

Either would be good. Tamiya parts are usually easier to come by but yokomo is definitely a good brand as well. The TT-01E probably as more hop ups for it if he wants to go that way in the future. All the TT-01E would need (beyond what's included in the link) are drift tires (which are pretty cheap) and locking the rear diff with some jbweld or similar.

I've never owned a yokomo before though so can't say if they are better or not and how much better. Realistically, you don't need a great chassis to drift as weight isn't as much a concern as when you're racing.

I'm not sure if the yokomo comes with light buckets and leds like the tamiya does (this is very cool).

*edit* as a note, I personally think the R35 GT-R from Tamiya is a better looking body but is not a low body design like the yokomos R34.

well I think he wants the tamya because it has lights but I am still pusing for the Yokomo after all then it will just go and he wont need to change stuff also since he got up he has found undercar neon lights and some other stuff and I think thats kinda got him sold. LOL I dont understand it myself as I can see his battery life being really short and I am still unsure where he thinks he I going to drift because I assume you need a large space/track and there are nither of these where we live but I guess in the end it's up to him. Anyway thanks everyone and if he does decide to get one I am sure you will see him on here asking questions after he has crashed it LOL

Well, look into the Sprint2Sport Drift by HPI, and the Yokomo, you can get or make your own light buckets for both but most bodies come with them, I find that the bodies from HPI look more realistic to me than the ones from Tamiya or Yokomo, I also think that Yokomo offers the best car because its made and built for drifting, yes the Sprint2Sport Drift is a drift car stock but the chassis is a touring chassis, if you can afford a car like a Yokomo get it, also look into the HPI Pro-D, maybe a bit more cash but its a good drifter, will get you links soon.

It drifts straight out of the box (includes light buckets) and isn't too expensive. Plenty of parts support too.

I've had one for a while now and it's a great little car.

Would recommend purchasing some sushi drift tyres at the same time.

By far the best drifter 200$ can buy....ive rocked a tt-01D for over 3 years now and i whomp on the boys every week at the track.
