New to drifting. Have a new Sprint 2 and a TC4. What is the deal with locking the diffs. Some say only lock the rear some say lock both. What is a spool ? How do I lock the diffs on my Sprint 2 and Assoc. TC4? Thanks for any help.

if you lock both diff's you have a better chance of drifting wiothout spinouts, sprint2 you must buy it lock or open diff and seal it with a hard sabtance to keep it place. Spool is a diff that allows the vehicle's wheels to turn freely in forward motion only. Tc4 Im not sure how to do that one.

I actually have a TC4 and TC5. The TC5 is a belt driven system and it works perfectly with a standard diff in the rear with a one way in the front. A one-way is key for technical drifting and hitting your turn marks (usually the apex on a turn marked with chalk). I had a front one way and a locked rear diff in my TC4, but it didn't work as well. I would definitely get a one way, because that is key; then try both locked and standard in the rear. That's just how I roll!
Welcome to RC Drifting. My other advise is to get to some sort of track, because drifting in an open parking lot gets really old and you'll soon be up for more of a challenge. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the info. Will get the one-way front for the Sprint. Does Assoc. make a one-way for their front ? Will then play with the rears locked and unlock. We are running on a parking lot track with lots of cones and bot dots. Heres a couple pictures of my new Zonda F body (for fun mild drifting) and my regular drifter on my Sprint 2.

Nice. Yes, Associated makes a one way for both the TC4 and TC5. I have always used a locked diff in my TC4, but I think it would probably work a little better if it wasn't locked. Mess around with it, and you'll find what works best for you.

I have never locked a diff, and all my cars can drift with tires and a motor swap. Don't do it, I think of it as a D-Box, its basically cheating -.- If they didn't want a diff to work they wouldn't of given you one on the Sprint2Drift...or other drifters....like Pro-D (awesome car XD)
