drift tyres are cheap and usually last a while... seriously rc drifting costs next to nothing if you keep it on a budget but it can go the other way and you could spend thousands if you wanted to... drift tyres last ages and you could just go buy a roll of Polly pipe and cut it up for tyres... even cheaper. hope it helps.

If youre starting out, might as well go with ABS as they're cheap which is good to learn on. you just make them yourself, buy like 5 feet of ABS(not pvc, pvc has barely any grip at all) tubing from the hardware store and cut them to the width of tires. you'll end up with around a years worth of tires for like 5 bucks. After a month or two of learning and honing your skills, you can then try some actual drift tires and see how you like them. for the most part, actual drift tires are more grippy than ABS and so the speed will be faster. the speed with ABS is good, though if you don't round the edges, they might get caught up on an uneven surface.
