Hey everybody. I Have a TL01 with a Speed gems 12 Turn, Intellispeed 12T modified Reversing esc and I'm running Venom 3000 packs. I picked up a set of HPI Super Drift Radials over the winter and finally got a chance to use them. I couldn't get it to slide and that made me wonder is my car set up properly to start learning how to drift. I have driven a 240SX for many years now and I know drifting doesn't come instantly so is all I need is more practice?? I was driving on a fairly smooth parking lot, but not freshly paved. As well, I have heard lots about locking the diff.. Is this a must to get the car to behave? Also, PVC tires compared to what I have.. What's the better tire to learn on. Has anybody ever tried removing the front drive shafts or the propellor shaft limiting it to a rwd?? Just a thought. Thanks all!

P.S. I know this is a silly question.. Is a 12 turn motor a high turn motor?? I would like to learn more about electric brushed motors. Sorry, I'm a Nitro boat guy out of my realm.

That sucks. I guess modifing the car further would be more expensive than making PVC tires. Do I want to be running all 4 tires PVC? Just out if curiosity, what kind of mods would I need to do to have my car work with the radials?

You wanna run all four tires made from ABS or PVC. You need 2 inch diameter piping if you want to make your own. It's pretty easy to do, but kinda labor intensive if you've just got a hacksaw and no power tools. If you slide your 240, drifting an RC car will come naturally to you.When i first started drifting an rccarthe hardest part was forgetting which way was which with the car coming towards me. But honestly within a couple minutes i was drifting just fine. Not necessarily the case when it came to my friends. They either just "got it" or they didn't.Not surprisingly it was my friends whofollow drifting and understand how it works that did just fine. My other friends who arn't so much into cars, couldn't drift for crap even after 15 minutes of trying.

By the way 12T is a pretty low turn motor. My TT01D came with a sport tune which is like 27T or something. High turn motors are usually 37T or 55T.

Thanks for the advice moflow. I know this isn't a motor thread but is a low turn motor bad?? what's the difference between a high turn motor opposed to a low turn motor??

      Low turn motors are faster, heat up quicker and drain your batterry faster - which is good mostly for a 6 minute main, drifting you need a more smoother motor that will not heat up as fast,  keep in mind that your spinnig tire at a raster rate than you are moving.
