yet another thread about locking rear diff well sorry about this well iam new to electric drifting i just want to know how can you lock the rear diff for tamiya tl01 i dont even know what should i lock :( well i saw this in youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMbbyxaI_BY
will this work on TL01? and in the video where he puts t he tube is that the one that need to be tighten ? hope you guys can help me out

im not exactly familiar with tl-01, but i have a tt-01 and from that video, the differential box is exactly teh same.... and all i did was squize some silicone into the box (the white cylindrical thing)... wait a day or two until the silicone completly dries up... and you are set for drifting... hope this helps

well i dont know but when i drift xmods i have 4 wheel drive but i only lock the rear with super glue :] hope this helps :]

Most basic tamiya diff's look like that internaly so you'l be fine with a TL01.

lol my silicone idea wasnt so good... after a few days it became harder to slide (only minutely but noticibly).... turned out the silicone turned into mush[:o]

I used JB Weld, I can't imagine this thing ever coming undone...

In the diff, you'll see three small bevel gears and a little “Y”. Instead of mounting all three of them on the little Y, mount only two. Then take the third and wedge it between them, making sure they sit flush (they sit perfectly flush when properly positioned). This will make it impossible for the large bevel gears to rotate at different speeds, locking the diff up tight.

Look carefully at the picture.
It's totally reversible, with no messy glue or gunk to mess with.
When you want to unlock the diff, simply put the bevel gear back on the Y

sounds good.. but would teh uneven weight distribution cause uneven wear on the plastic differential box? or perhaps even cause the car to roll retarded, with the back vibrating...

nope i've been using that setup in my tt-01 since march/april and it's still working great

o thats a tt-01?! hmm... i guess thats some sort of metal upgrade then? me i have teh stock differential box which is made of some white plastic material... also i cant get the 3rd gear in between the 2 like u have in teh picture... so instead i took out 2 and put them on either side of 1 gear that was on teh rod ("so 2 free rods").... this would further offbalance the gear box but.... i don tkno

seriously you won't notice if it's off balance or not. My friends and I have been using that setup for a few months now and our cars still drift as smooth as day one.
