my e10 has done amazing i dont see why only magnat has had problems.hmmmm anywyas i udjusted the mesh of the motor just take a piece of paper put it between the gears and titen up i have no noise and great power i hav put 19ts in it and no slapping noise so i dont know what the hell he is talking about it is a great car
What 19T are you using? What RPM does it have??? if it has more then 26.500rpm I would be Impressed...
http://media.putfile.com/HPI-Dissapointment

In this Vid you will see, 3 wheel work, one Free Wheels... The Diff is Brand new so dont go blaming the Diff..

Notice the Noise... Even with that "Paper Spacer" you used to get the Mesh, the Motor Torques the Plastic Motor mount and the Sound is the end result

It Sounds like a Coffee Grinder...

The Hotbodies Cyclone S Drifter is far better...
If Your Worried about money, a HBX Lancer off E-bay will do a the job and cost even Less!!!

Hell a HBX Bonzer Drifts Better then My E10 !!!

Does the E10 come with full bearings? I'm thinking about getting a cheap, budget car; was looking at this one.

you don't need the paper test to set gear mesh, it comes with alignment marks for the size of your pinion gear. setting the gear mesh is the easiest thing in the world on this car, and even with my 13T double it sounds fine.

So I ma seriously considering getting an E10. Other than bearings, and maybe some better shocks, is there anything else? I've read the earlier posts in this forum; have all the issues been worked out?

I 3rd that.. My Sprint 2 Slides Brilliantly and apart from the Occasional rear belt getting chewed its been faultless.
Front Belt is still original and its now 3 Years Old with over 120 Hours of drifting on it... still nice and tight too !
Sprint 2 pwn E10...

You know, that's what everyone says about the E10 but I opened mine up and it had a full set of bearings in the hubs. The only bearings missing were the ones in the diff case. You only need 4 to replace them. Those bearings are dirt cheap at WalaWala store.

As far as grinding noise goes, I think Magnat got a bum deal. The E10 I have hasn't grinded at all after hours of use. I've met some other people too with E10s with no problems. I guess it's like in the real world. You're bound to get some lemons off the assembly line...

RE: hpi e10 mazda rx-7. is it any good???need help quick!!!

Yeah I got one of the firsts... they must have listened to the E-mails I sent them...

I mean they are now planning to fix the propshaft issue.. and are making an alloy motor mount...

So we shall see in a few months time if it can resurrect its poor excuse for a chassis into something that I can rate above a Tyco toy...

I have to also ask Aries what motor are you running in it ???

Cause I went to a TZ and it was horrible... the propshaft thrashed around like a pair of undies on a spin cycle...

Oh well, mine ended up as land fill..

RE: hpi e10 mazda rx-7. is it any good???need help quick!!!

I'm just running it with the stock motor. I didn't want to risk putting my brushless in it especially after I read your posts. It's a little underpowered on carpet for my liking but works great on concrete and asphalt. That sucks yours ended up in the landfill. I'm sure there are others with the same experience. :( Unfortunately, its usually the early adopters of new products that get shafted. They report all the kinks, the kinks get fixed in new revisions but then early adopters don't get anything in return for helping make the product better.

Speaking of making products better, if you've got an E10, come to the E10 section at www.driftercentral.com If you post up a pic of your E10, I'll send you 4 bearings for your diffs. I ordered about 60 bearings thinking I would have to replace bearings in the hubs (plus I ordered extra for other people) but it turns out we didn't need all the bearings at all.

RE: hpi e10 mazda rx-7. is it any good???need help quick!!!

I only went to a Tamiya TZ motor and that was a fatal move.. It Slapped the centre propshaft around that violently that it would slap around and leave marks on the chassis bordering on Snapping....

I no longer have my E10 as it is land fill... I stripped out the ESC, the Servo and reciever and binned the rest...

Hey man, I am enjoying my MAzda RX-7 E-10 drift a lot! I was looking for a drifter forum, Ill be sure to post there later today!

I have had zero problems with my E-10, I do recommend it.

RE: hpi e10 mazda rx-7. is it any good???need help quick!!!

I was gonna say what Aries already said. And "professional drifters" pay for parts. The majority of them would just rather have the best chassis and Yok has one of the best. And I'll agree that they're overpriced for the market. But, you gotta pay to play I guess. And sponsorship gets you free stuff, but again, you STILL pay for stuff. Just like in the 1:1 race/drift/show market.

As for the E10, other than the lack of alum. driveshaft, I think they're awesome out the box. Like Aries said, a bit slow on carpet, but ok for me (I think you're a faster driver than me anyway Hen). And, there's going to be a some upgrades to that in the near future. I think it's a great drifter for a begginner or someone who wants another car.

RE: hpi e10 mazda rx-7. is it any good???need help quick!!!

i love my E10, cant fault it at all, ive had no problems with it at all. I got mine in kit form with out electronics & carefully put it together. its the ae86 levin and i got it for drifting. it has no problem spinning the wheels & drifting & i think it handles good easy to controll during a drift, only things i found with it are i think the stock springs are to hard & the chassis has a bit of flex, but its not really a problem. i noticed u cant adjust the camber & toe, but out of the box thay seem to be set right, i do like the other tuning ability u can adjust the caster, lots of tyres & foam combos to pick as well as lots of diffrent springs to get. mine is running all hpi parts like: saturn 27t motor, TF-10 transmitter, RF-10 reciver, SF-2 servo, SC-15 esc, 327 light controller, 3400mAh batt, sway bars, alloy drive shaft, CV axles, ball bearing kit, & waiting on the alloy screws, alloy collets & allow shockers. all i want to do to it now is get the alloy strut brace & the locked front diff

RE: hpi e10 mazda rx-7. is it any good???need help quick!!!

we have about a dozen of these E10 cars in drift and touring at our track
to be straight, they are ok
but just ok
the front dogbone axles keep popping out in the fronts
we spend more time popping the axles back in than racing
no grinding noises or any other problems
we are planning to go with TT01 cars and retire these
the TT01s are far better
these E10s are great for bashing around tho
i personally have a hyper 10 and like it
it is adjustable where the E10 is not
i bought a milling machine and will be tearing down an E10 to experiment with
i'm thinking about making aluminum adjustable arms, motor mount etc
alot of work but a fun challenge

RE: hpi e10 mazda rx-7. is it any good???need help quick!!!

dude i have one and i love it but!!!! it has its ups and downs if you want you can get a mod motor and aluminum drive shaft and all the bells a whistles... i love mine but i am going to be gettin a sprint 2 and my E10 is going to be my toy just to slide around and im gonna slide the sprint 2 as well.. but the E10 is the **** too me its worth the $212.95 my G/F spent and i love it ... its hard to find parts but its worth it i keep up with RS4's sprint 2's and cyclone's ..... so yeah just doit for yourself man the sprint to is belt and e10 is shaft >>>less maintenance ... sprint2 >>>> more belts and a bit faster and better chassis.

so just go with what you think not everyone else that's what i did.

peace Jerms

RE: hpi e10 mazda rx-7. is it any good???need help quick!!!

if upgradeing an E10 to brushless, DO NOT just stick in a new motor and go
it will not last
you will need to swap all bushings to bearings, all aftermarket aluminum parts will be needed
i'm rebuilding one now that was put brushless without upgrading
it's a mess
if you want an E10 brushless, go with the flux 2
the belt drive is better
but i strongly suggest upgrading any drive parts
and when done, its still cheaper than the high priced cars and will be able to compete as hard
