These both look like great trucks, and both have a lot of fanboys so that makes it very hard to decide. Ilove that the rustler can hit 70mph with only a couple of upgrades, but thats not as important to me as being durable/good basher.
I race on concrete, dirt, and grass a lot. I have heard that the efirestorm is a little more durable, but that could just be hearsay.
I also consider the low end spectrum of speed very important, Ihave an 1/18th scale that's lacking in that department, and I really dislike it.

Now that the firestorm is waterproof and 3s ready it's a much better truck then the rustler, Come by the firestorm thread. I think the Rustler is a nice truck too but the storm just has that much more in terms of handling etc.

I cant believe its that much better. I also just found out it is 3S ready, one question, if it can handle from 7.4 to 11.1 volts, wouldn't it be slow with a 7.4? Or does the ESC automatically detect the pack voltage, and adjust accordingly?

You will get about 40mph on 7.4 and close to 60mph on 3s.

Firestorm is 1000x the truck that the Rustler is.

This has made my decision clear cut. This forum is great, I had my problem with my 1/18th scale fixed in one post, and now I have more than enough help in deciding for my next big purchase

Does anyone know if this lipo will fit in the E firestorm? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...LXYKT6&P=7

If you dont mind ordering from china this would be a great hard case lipo for the money...You just need to solder on a deans plug.

This is the 3s lipo I run in my storm and it is clocked at 51 mph [link=http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/__11931__Turnigy_nano_tech_4500mah_3S_25_50C_Lipo_ Pack.html]LIPO[/link]
My storm has a 4600kv and the new storm has a 4800kv 4 pole so it would be faster then mine...

Soldering deans is a joke though. I did it with my 30 watt pencil tip iron.

Thats a great deal, although I would be ordering my truck from tower, so with the shipping and then waiting from hobby king, I wouldnt save anything.
I also have a 100 watt solder iron, it really does heat up fast

Makes sense, I would like to see at least a 100 amp output instead of the 80 amps that one you linked to on tower... The 80 amps would run a little warm.

Damn, tower doesnt seem to have any other lipos that would work for me, at least not in the price range I'd like.
How warm are we talking about?Over 120?

This is a decent 2S pack.

3S is going to be beyond stupid fast in this truck, just be aware...and 3S you will be working the motor harder...get used to the 2S before making the jump to 3S. What kind of charger do you have?

I have a cell pro multi4 lipo balance charger. I need a good cheap power supply though.
I also have a lot of old lipo batteries, maybe 2-3 years old, a few 3S and a few 2S all name brands, and they all seem to have good voltage. at least 3.8 volts per cell. I might try to use some of those.
I think that tower hobbies one you just posted is a little bit too expensive.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Venom-LiPo-2S-7-...item588eca152f Any good?

The Venom battery will supply 150a. The one you keep wanting to buy will supply 80.
If you like short battery life, go for it. That battery will not last long.

You're right, I was being cheap, but its hard not to be when money is hard to make you know?
I will take your advice, and spend the extra on that pack. Higher output = more power, and longer life time of lipo cells.
