I recently purchased an ESC that needed new leads soldered on. I figured easy enough and the price was right. I got everything soldered on and since I was making changes I decided to put deans plugs on everything as well. I decided to test it on the bench and shortly after I put power to it "poof" smoked a transistor in the ESC
. So I've sent the ESC off to be repaired/replaced.
My question is could this cause the receiver not to work and kill the steering servo as well? I can't get the receiver to respond to any kind of input and I've tried the steering servo hooked into a different receiver and nothing. I only had a few minutes to mess with it this morning. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

If you burn one of the mosfets in the esc you might damage other equipment as your servo and reciever. When a mosfet dies it migh shortcircuit (internally) the gate with the power line of the battery. The gate then goes to a microcontroller which is definetelly not able to handle the power thus destroyed as well. Once the microcontroller is destroyed, this voltage line may reach the power supply or channel signal to your receiver and servo through the destroyed microcontroller (as the receiver send the throttle signal to it)
If you have tried the receiver and servo with other equipment and they dont work I would reckon you destroyed them as well.
