Default need some advice

Ok, so I am just getting into this and I don't really know much. I bought an Electrix Stadium Truck 2x4 because I thought my 7 year old would get a kick out of it. Ok, so now I have become a bit upsest with the hobby. I love the damn truck because its pretty fast, and I can beat the hell out of it and it keeps running. I fried the ESC in a water puddle, so I replaced it with a Traxxas XL-5 esc because it is waterproof. I now want to hop it up because I found the Traxxas esc opens up more performance upgrade options. I don't plan on buying a new truck, that isn't an option at this time. When the motor goes out, I want to replace it with something of an upgrade... Does anyone have any suggestions on what this little ******* of a truck can handle with the new esc?

A Reedy Radon 17t would be a good, cheap upgrade. Just youtube "water breakin" and follow the instructions.

Alternatively, if your LHS has some old 15-19t competition brushed motors, you could do that, too. Not many brushed motor upgrade options anymore.

Very cool. Will the low turn motors help with top end speed? And would it be worth while to upgrade to lipo, or just upgrade to a higher voltage Nihms?

Ya know, the guy at hobby town may be wrong. The paperwork with my ESC says lipos are ok.

Which ESC? The Dynamite Tazer 10t is LiPo-friendly.

The newer XL5s have a LiPo cutoff, but you have to program it in...it's not automatically there.

From the manufacturer:

"the xl-5 speed control is able to use LiPo batteries with nominal voltage not to exceed 7.4 volts (2S packs)." It looks like it can take them, but it may be more complicated than it is worth for amature bashing.

Well I can't say for sure that it is.... I"m new to all this and just figuring out the basic differences between all the batteries out there is taking some thought. I'll prob try my buddies lipos just to see what happens.
