Default Lipo battery Charger questions

Hello everyone, so today i just recieved my Sky Lipo 5000Mah 3s 30c today. But I dont have my car;( anyway I had a few questoins. 1) how many amps chould i charge at? 2) how long do I charge it or is my charger going to shut off at the right time? 3) Does my lipo come pre charged? I understand how to balance it i just plug it into the balancer port. My charger is a Thunder Ac680.

The pack doesn't appear to have a MAX charge current listed and I think it may be 3C which is 15 amps max. Many oldschool users use 1C for a MAX rate (5 amps) Take it easy on it to start and then you can set the charger for it's max rate of 6 amps no problem. Lipo chargers are designed to shut off when pack is full. Most lipos come about half charged.

your lipo should come at the storage charge which is about 3.8 volts per cell. go ahead and charge it up all the way. i wouldn't recommend charging above 1c, there is no hurry...

So that's reason to post that you're pissed enough to throw away the iron and the battery?
I was going to suggest some online turtorials, but if you're going to act that way just go ahead the throw your tantrum. I've got better things to do.

for your next cheap soldering iron I'd bump up to 60 watts for a few dollars more http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXPR36&P=ML never had any trouble soldering anything with that one. but the 40 should get it done, make take a little more time and patience to heat everything up.

No worries.

Paint? Just make sure and locate some lexan-specific paint, Pactra and Tamiya both make some that are widely available through hobby shops/retailers.

1c for 5000mah pack is 5amps

With that charger, hook up both the charge and balance leads, set it to balance charge/ 3s and 5000mah it will do the rest. No worries.

You should wait , and charge right before running. Thus your pack will spend less time at full charge.

Default RE: Lipo battery Charger questions

whatever you do do not store a lipo at full charge for more than a day or 2.
I charged one of my lipos up the night before I was going to run a RC, it rained the day I planned to run it, and the next 2 days after that (basically every day I had free) I forgot it fully charged for about 2 weeks. The lipo puffed a little from being fully charged too long. Now when I charge a batter the night before if I don't use it the next day due to unexpected issues I will pop it on the charger and set the charger to do a storage discharge(takes forever).

you want to store the lipo at around 70-80% charge when you do not plan on using it.
