Default explain brushless motor timing

how does BL motor timing work? On the ESC settings I mean.

My ezrun and leapord systems both have an adjustment for motor timing. I want to see if it makes a difference but want to know what its supposed to do 1st.

I wanna check it out on my ecx boost 1st. I just ran the buggy with a 3300kv motor, on 2s lipo, with the largest pinion gear I can get on it (26t) and its still pretty slow for a BL on 2s.
The system is new, so is the buggy. Its just that it was geared sooo dang low to start with.
In ever other offroad model Ive owned, a 3300kv - 3900kv motor on 2s can be geared for 35=40mph easy.

I have the largest gear I can get on it....as well as 2.2 anaconda tires and Im getting about 30mph out of it.

The system is running plenty cool. motor temps under 120. So its not geared as high as it could go....soo I wondered if the motor timing settings could get a little more speed out of the motor.

increase the timing, keep checking the heat on the 1st run to see if the heat is ok. You notice a difference in speed with timing but let the speed gun be the charge of that.

If no cigar and you can't fit a bigger pinion or smaller spur, your only option seemns to get a higher kv motor

timing effectively increases KV.

ok ill give it a try. I do have a temp gun and check motor/esc temps whenever I try a new setup.

this is just the 1st model ive owned that really kinda needed a higher KV motor.

Im glad the leapord system I bought came with a program card. makes changes so easy.

Some of the xerun series of esc have lots of advanced timing options and software that can make them crazy fast. I hope your model gets faster
