Default New to Electric, need Advice on Purchase or convert Nitro RC8

Hi All,

I am new to the electric scene and am a little overwhelmed by all of the information out there... I currently have a Team Associate RC8 RTR with a Spektrum Remote. It works great but I am tired of buying fuel and tuning the carb...

My First Dilemma is weather to convert my RC8 to Electric or buy another RTR and just sell my Nitro buggy. I am no pro racer so I don't need anything super expensive, I have been looking at the OFNA Hyper SSE RTR for $349.00. From what I can see it is going to cost me at least that to convert my car to electric?

If I do convert, what is a decent esc Motor combo that will perform at least as well as the stock nitro motor and not break the bank?

Also if I do convert, will my current receiver work with a new ESC?

Either way I am going to have to buy a Charger and some batteries which is another place I am lost.

1. What is a decent charger (I don't want to have to wait hours for a charge)
2. What are decent batteries
3. What kind of Runtime do you get out of electrics these days, this will help determine how many batteries I need to buy

Sorry if these are obvious questions to some. Like I said I am new to this and my findings searching the forum just seem to lead me to more questions...

thanks

1. You can convert the RC8 to an elecric buggy for less than 100. http://www.rcplanet.com/Team_Associa...yAGkdPpC3w_wcB

Now if you want to save some cash on the PSU, and charger plus don't mind some DIY

http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27554 instructions to make a 47Amp PSU I built one exactly the same following the instructions it cost me around $27 a few years ago when all was said and done including the connectors.

I also own 2 of these http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...cessories.html

Batteries I won't recommend as you will need to figure out the dimensions of the battery box you will use(if you get the measurements then ask), and go off that. I have quite a few batteries, and not all of them will fit in each RC's as the batteries are physically different sizes.

The RC8 conversion kit has adjustable velcro straps, so any 2S, 3S, or 4S pack/combination will fit. I agree on the PSU.

OFNA makes good products. I have a Hyper 10TT and love it. Well engineered and easy to work on. The only thing it needed to make it almost bullet-proof was a set of T-bone Racing bumpers.
