Wanting to get a Rally car
Hey guys, I've had alot of different vehicles over the years. I've always bought on impulse and want to do it different this time. I know I want a rally car but want recommendations on what y'all think would be the best fit. I am only bashing and scale driving so racing for now isn't in the equation. I have seen the following cars,
Kyosho DRX VE $400
Traxxas Rally $430
HPI WR8 $480
Vaterra Rally Cross $400
Associated Pro Rally $380
Losing Ten Rally-X $520
If there are others y'all recommend feel free as well. Hope this might help some others as well that are in the same boat. Thanks in advance.

Tough one..... For pure bashing capability I would sugest the Traxxas. But it's not exactly very scale looking compared to some of the other vehicles.
so saying that. I would recommend seeing if u can narrow it down futher purely on looks... Been that there is not a whole lot of body options available..... What's your favourite 3 cars, Purely on scale looks?

I love the Subaru body on the Kyosho, the Fiesta on the Associated is also amazing. After that I guess it'd have to go to the HPI. I've never owned a Kyosho so I don't know what to expect from their vehicles. Associated vehicles have always been great for me, and HPI have been hit and miss. So I hate to base it only on looks. That's why I want yalls help in my choice.

I love Subaru too. But based on that review Jang did on the Kyosho, I'd probably nix that one. The Vaterra car with the Fiesta body looks good, and seems to have a better speed than the Kyosho. Plus, you get AVC ! I wonder about its suspension travel. I'd like to see a Jang review on it. The Traxxas entry probably has the best blend of speed and off-road capability, since it's based on a Slash LCG chassis. I remember the Losi got a good review from Jang, and remember that he said it was quite capable off-road It also has AVC. Then there's the Associated, based on the well-received Pro-Lite 4x4. I was looking at that one. Proven platform. Phew, I see why you need help. Tough choice!

That's one thing I'm having to look at for sure. I've heard good things about the tamiya as well just not sure which one is comparable to the others for off-road capabilities

Yeah, it is. I suggest the Traxxas Rally. A more scale looking body can always be bought later. Not to mention, it has a wide aftermarket support range of upgrades and conversions, like Atomik RC and RPM upgrades for it.

The guy at my LHS made a interesting point while were were chatting about them: He said he thought the Traxxas would make the better "basher" since Traxxas cars are all pretty much made for bashing, not racing. The other entries (excepting the Basher) are based on race vehicles not neccessarily made for strength.
The Traxxas has the least-appealing body, the HPI the best. Vaterra's is the next-best-looking. The Losi and the Associated probably have the best chassis, as far as "breeding" is concerned.

That's a common misconception.
bash cars are not stronger....they are cheap, basic entry level cars.
generally u will find high quality race inspired rc cars are a lot more durable than a entry level rc car

The only thing against Tamiya is there 1/10 rally cars are considerably smaller, so it's offroad capabilities are very limited due to its size.
