Question Slash 4x4 VXL or Ten SCTE RTR?

I'm a relative novice just getting back into RC cars after years away. I want to bash only - no racing, at least to start.

I've narrowed my choices down to either a Traxxas Slash 4x4 VXL or a Team Losi Ten SCTE RTR, both of which are available at my LHS.

The MOST important things to me right now are ***durability and ease to work on***, as my mechanical abilities are questionable!

I don't mind paying the appx. $120 more for the Losi if it's really worth it in the long run.

With all of this in mind, which of these two do you guys recommend?

Thank you!

P. S. - I've read in several Ten SCTE owner reviews that this truck can have a "glitching" problem with the stock electronics. What does this mean??

SCTEs seem to be built like tanks from what I can see at my track. I'd go with the SCTE. The glitching is just cogging because the motor is sensorless.

OK, thanks! If I get the Ten SCTE, will I have to order most parts off the internet, you think?

Also, does the ESC in this truck have low voltage cut-off?

No problem. It really just depends on the amount of hobby stores around you. Most Hobbytowns carry Losi parts, and most hobby shops do, too. Yes, it does have low voltage cutoff. I suggest getting at least a 40C rating LiPO for it. This one by BIAS is affordable and works great. It also has the famous Venom universal connector; very helpful when you add new machines to your fleet. I also hope you have a LiPO charger, too.

Thanks for the help. I actually plan to buy a RTR truck and a couple of 2S LiPo's, need the charger, too. My old charger is NiMH only.

I have the original Venom Pro charger. I oil the brushless fan twice a year, but other than that, flawless as well. Venom = Good stuff = High Price
