Default Raven to brushless

I have a old sportwerkz raven st that i was thinking about converting to brushless. I was wondering if the transmision could handle the power or should i just put a better brushed motor and or esc in it. Is there another makers trans that would fit in it because i enjoy tinkering with stuff. Thanks for the help

Possibly. From what I see, the gears in that car are all plastic except for one, which is not good for brushless. However, the Losi XXX-SCT and XXX-SCB transmissions look very much the same to the Raven's transmission. If you could find a metal diff and idler gear for those two chassis, they look like they might fit.

Any tranny will fit with enough zip ties.

You can always do some dremel work and slot out holes to make it fit.

Should be okay, just stay away from 3s and make sure the spur and pinion are meshed right

+1 I don't know how much power the OP was looking to dump into the ST, but I'd start out with a 10.5T or simular kv (approx. 3200kv) rated brushless motor if one must "go brushless".

I'd first ask myself...is there any parts still made for the Speedwerkz model or possibly Yahoo!/Google search for threads where other users have ..."been there; done that".

I've seen some Associated B4/T4 tranny mounted on a other manufacturer's ST chassis. Hack job to say the least. It can be done, it's just the figuring out if a tranny's outdrives will accomidate the drive shafts already on the Raven. Then you have the issue of somehow bracing the gearbox to the rear bulkhead/shock tower. That being said, If you still think that's something you want to "Frankenstein" I'd start downloading; looking at a some manuals for possible donors.

Good luck!
