So I bought a Volcano EPX Brushed for my first big RC! I'm motivated to start building this into some kinda beast it will be more for off road but i still want some speed like around 40mph with equal torque what should I start and what should I use?

First, find a decent aftermarket bumper set for it. The "bumpers" on most RCs, if they have any at all, are cosmetic at best. Check RPM, T-Bone Racing, or STRC. If they don't make one specific for you car, find one that can b made to fit. And buy a set of replacement suspension arms, you're gonna break some. Learn to drive the thing before you start making it faster. "With more speed comes greater repair bills". I assume you're running NiMh batteries? Fine for now. When you're ready for more speed, replace the motor system (motor and ESC) with a brushless system and LiPo batteries. You'll need a LiPo specific charger.
