Default FTX 6557W ESC speed mode change

I have just bought an FTX5570 Outlaw 1/10th scale Ultra 4 RTR electric buggy with a FTX6557W ESC receiver. However, the instructions say that it has a Crawler speed which you can programme by holding the Program button down until you hear two "beeps" and then let go. This changes the LED to a Solid instead of flashing and is supposed to put the ESC into Crawler mode. When I have tried this I find that the speed is still the same as the Normal mode.
Please can you tell me if I have done something wrong, or is there something that the instructions have missed out?
Thanks,
Phil.

Crawler mode sometime just gets rid of the brake function . Not actually slowing down the car .
Normal mode would be Fwd / Brake / Reverse ( you have to brake before reversing )
Crawler mode would Fwd / Reverse ( you can go from forward staight into reverse )
Race mode would be Fwd and Brake ( no reverse )
Check and see if you can go from forward to reverse without braking . Dont do it flat out as it can brake stuff .

Thanks, The instructions say that Normal mode (flashing LED) gives Forward, Brake, Reverse whilst Crawler mode (solid LED) gives Forward with Drag Brake, Reverse.
Seems daft to me, crawler means go slow. This "Drag Brake" doesn't seem to change the vehicle speed so what does it actually do?
Thanks for your reply, what you say is what mine does.

Drag brake is the motor braking force when the throttle is in neutral .
With 0% Drag brake your car will roll a long way when you let off the throttle . As you increase % , the car will roll less .
Crawlers use a high drag brake to hold the car in position rather than trying to use the throttle to keep it from rolling backwards .
