Here is my XXX-4

The pictures area little weak because I have a very lousy camera. My Novak Super Sport is also in for warranty repair so no off body pictures.

Upgrades include:

Threaded shock bodies
G+ shock towers front and rear
Aluminum hinge pin carriers (front only but both sets)
Bearing steering
Looks good casey! I have never seen those wheels on the XXX-4 before!

Here is the latest, well sort of. It's my Yokomo YRX-12WE with a "Shack" C5-R body thanks to one of the RC Universe members who provided me with the idea.

I added six more photos to the photo gallery--a little of everything.

And thank you for the "Shack" idea. I may rip out the light kit (front and rear) that I have installed in one of my T-Maxx Corvette bodies and install it in the 1/12 scale or check into the "Z" light kit.

I was messing around tonight and snapped a few photos since people tend to ask how much larger one scale car is compared to another. There are actually two more R/C cars than what is listed in my signature--the toy "old" one and the "shen qi wei" or whatever it is.

Awesome pics!!
#3 is a 1:4 scale, the blue one is a 1:5 scale, and so on. The Mini-Z and Mini-T look pretty dang little compared to #3, but not as small as the top RC car.

Well I had my xxx-s up for sale but decided to keep her since no one was buying. I didn't upgrade to the threaded shocks becuase I don't really have any problems with these yet. A few more mods to go though, I'd like to try and fit in a set of factory team TC3 shocks to go along with the blue theme that I can get them cheaper then the losi shocks. I haven't decided yet.

Mods so far:
Full graphite conversion
Woven carbon fiber shock towers
Harcore Racing aluminum rims
Novak brushless 5800 system

stuff I still need, tires and a worthy body

More mods to come very soon....

System,

Just to let you know, there isn't a whole lot of indoor tracks in the Portland/Salem area. I live in Hillsboro which is a suburb of Portland and the closest indoor off road track is in Vancouver. The closest indoor road track that I know of is in Salem (which may be good for you).

The Salem track is a carpet track and looks to be pretty nice (been there a couple of times but never raced). They have an electronic timing system and change the track every now and then.

There used to be another indoor off road track in Hillsboro, but closed down due to lack of business.

In the summer time there are outdoor off road tracks in Canby and Gresham in addition to the Vancouver track. I don't know of any outdoor tracks in the salem area.

Where are you moving to?

It's fairly simple design and considered more efficient then shaft driven cars but it has it's setbacks also. Belts expand, slip, snap. Shafts are a bit more durable. As I said before though belts deliver power from the motor to the wheels more efficiently then shaft drives do. Also torque steer is not a problem with them as in some shaft driven cars. I'll use the TC3 and XXX-S as example since they are most common. Most Associated guys will tend to be more bias towards TC3 and the Losi guys to the XXX-S. I've had both, the TC3 runs a shaft system that is basically sealed at both ends and you won't have the problems that most belt systems do when catching rocks in the belt, shafts give more of an open area to work. Losi has sovled the rock problem by sealing the belt system off entirely, but in doing this it doesn't allow you the room to work so there are tradoffs at either end. The xxx-s is a bit more of a hassle (still easy though) to work on when changing belts. If you tend to run on carpeted tracks then a more open belt design would be a better choice (to save weight). It's hard to say anything bad about either types of drive systems because they both perform very well. Then again I do feel the belt system rolls a bit smoother though, but that partly comes down to the quality of bearings used.

hey,
you should of gotten ball bearings before the other stuff. totally worth the money, i wouldn't
think about running any rc with out ball bearings. they make car faster and a lot more durable-
less friction in drive line

I am new in RC cars and I just recently bought a lot of these cars. I think these are really cool because they can do all kind of stunts and run on any surface. I have a video on this link [link=http://www.paylesssavemore.com/video.html]PayLessSaveMore[/link] . I am working on another video where you can see the jumbs and back wheel stunts. These cars may not be for professional RC users or racers but it is a good radio control car for beginners.

Griff, I really like the looks of your XXXS. Those blue wheels have me curious, are they aluminum? Can you post a pic of it's profile?
Thanks.

Wookie,
I was naming the salem track in my head, I heard some good stuff about it. As to where I am moving is undecided, but salem looks good as far as being able to do stuff, but not be too over crowded.
Thanks for the information!
