Touring Car forum!!!!
Since there is not a forum area for on-road electric touring cars, (which I still have yet to figure out why there isn't one) here is a make-shift one. Please feel free to post your questions, and pics of your cars on here. I know that there will be guys glad to answer your questions! Maybe if there is plenty of posts someone will start a real discusion area. I sure hope so, we sedan guys need one!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,

well at my LHS we run stock and T-spec. i have a t-spec and getting a xxx-s rtr 2 to run stock. there was a guy that was runnig a 10t triple he could not stay on the track. motor trinity monster horsepower pro stock pinion 28 picth batteries get a couple good 3300's because you can really move with them. later on i would recomend to get a better car. hope this helps.

RE: Touring Car forum!!!!
okay, i got a question. i just recently put togethor my TC4, and i was driving it around yesterday. before this car, i had a T4, and so i just took out my Kr 9x2 motor (along with pinion), LRP F1 esc, and put them into the TC4. so when i was driving it, it felt really REALLY uncontrollable. with the simplest touch of the wheel, i would practically spin out. there are several things i think could be causing this.
1) since I popped/stripped my front differential (which im going to fix today), so could that be the cause of this?
2)maybe it has to do with my radio. i have the airtronics MX-3, and there is something in there about steering where L and R can be like from 0% - 110%, right now its at 100%, so do i maybe have to fiddle around with that? im kinda over-whelmed with all the termonology in this thing.
3) maybe its just because im used to an off-road 2WD stadium truck, and this is 4wd on-road, is it something i just have to get used to?
4) or maybe its something else i just havent thought of, so i just want to know what you guys think, maybe u have seen this problem before, please help.

RE: Touring Car forum!!!!
Probably your choice of pinion if the uncontrollable feeling was due to throttle response. The t4 has a lot more gear reduction in the tranny than the tc4. The 4wd thing is kinda wierd too (I never have gotten to like a 4wd car).

hmm, pinion..? well, i just fixed my diffs, so im gonna go see how it runs. another thing i thought about was the tires, im running the stock tires that come with a TC4, are the stock ones maybe really cheap and bad or something? just another thought

The car was really uncontrollable at my high-grip track, until I used tire compound. Most likely its the tires and the pinion. But more the tires. The car likes to spin out and is hard to steer. I'd try a different tire for the application. Other people have had the same problem with their tires. (This was on the TC4)

aliens8mycow - What ESC are you using? I am thinking of getting a 12th scale Pan Car. Nothing fancy, just what ever I can get cheap. So would not have all the CF or anything. Just stock composites with bearings and such.

RE: Touring Car forum!!!!
Well, I have the great big Schulze (18.97 or whatever it is...) and I mentioned a while back that I got a Castle Creations Phoenix 80 from a friend who needed to get some cash on hand before Christmas. I've been stuck indoors due to the weather, so I haven't been able to really let the car run. I've tried the Phoenix 80, and as you mentioned it's a different world trying to drive with the full travel of the stick! I'd like to wait until I can get outside, though, before I rule it out, because I think that once I get used to it I may be able to take advantage of the extra travel for throttle control, at least for doing a couple of speed runs. We'll see...
I'm pretty sure that I won't use it for daily driving - seems like it'll be a nightmare. I'd like to try the warrior esc's - they look like a great solution for the price, and it seems that you've had great luck with them. Probably by summer I'll end up selling both of the esc's that I have and get a couple of the warriors. I'll need a 2nd esc for a buggy project that I'm working on.

I think I have a good idea what study will be doing with it... Keep an eye on eBay - you can get the rc12L or bolink rollers for cheap. Everyone seems to go after the cf chassis, so it's pretty easy to pick up the fiberglass version for cheap.

RE: Touring Car forum!!!!
I saw a link here on RCU posted about this a while back:
https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...pl?pn=COR00050
I run matched/zapped GP3300's but they are in stick packs. Even my 4 cell packs are in stick form because I use the SPT (Solderless Power Tubes). I want to go to a few of the local clubs and race with it. Need to find out if they have a 12th scale calss or not. Ever since I saw the post - I been wanting it. Also pan cars are very simple and I can make almost any hop-ups replacement part myself. THat is why I am not worried about all the CF. I would remake most of the parts of my own design in AutoCAD or something.
Been thinking about it for a few months now. We will see. First need to purchase a few other items before I get that.

RE: Touring Car forum!!!!
I've heard a lot of good things about the Corally cars - never driven one though. When I used to run the 1/10 pan cars, all I had was AE, and that's about all that anyone else around here had aside from Bolink.
You asked awhile back if anyone knew of a company that made aluminum wheels for pan cars (or maybe it was the rear end layout you wanted info on...) I'm getting to old to keep it all straight! [X(] Anyway, have you found anywhere to get spun aluminum wheels? (I'm thinking for a 1/10 pan car)

RE: Touring Car forum!!!!
I was looking for someone to post pics of the rear end to make one myself. I am past that now and working on other projects. I do really want a pan car and would prefer 1/12 scale. But needs to take stick packs and not saddle packs for batteries.
Will do some research to see if any of the local clubs have any races for pan scale.

There are not that many 12th scales that accept stick packs. I think the only one that does accept stick packs is the one that you posted.
Right now for touring cars I am running an Xray T1FK. This is an awesome car with great tunability.

Looks nice - I prefer belt drive. Just more work. At least mine is.
Belt drive is so much smoother than anything else. Love the way it handles with speed and acceleration. My TC3 is a good car, but the belt drive of my Colt10 feels nicer.
