Default RE: OFFICAL PEDE THREAD

I have an Electric Stampede with a Mamba Max in it.

When I Spin one back wheel the other stays almost still. Shouldn't it be turning the other way? However when I hold the spur gear while doing this the opposite wheel will turn back like im pretty sure its supposed 2.

When I spin the spur gear without the motor in the car the left wheel is moving faster than the right.

When I put one wheel on my knee and spin the other the one on my knee doesn't even feel like its trying to move. Shouldn't it be trying to go somewhere?

The left wheel is getting so much more power that it literally melted the plastic hub adapter inside the rim.

Ive been stuck with this car for a while now. Whats Wrong!!

Any help guys. Some people have been telling me its the differential so I pulled out the diff but I cant see anything wrong? What should I look for to know if the differential is dead.

differential grease it sounds like. did you take the differential appart? did you make sure that your outdrive yoks were attatched? sounds kind of like one is missing the screw maybe? you might have to rebuild the diff, but it sounds like one hub or yoke is messed up or missing causing the other wheel to recieve all the power when its on the ground.

The differential looks fine... I dont see any stripped gears.. plenty of grease in there. I dont know what it could be???

My screws are present in both outdrives.. I dont know what else? Any more suggestions?

I have a question, is there any kind of Built in failsafe with the VXL RTR's? Or if you run out of range by accident does your truck keep racing off into oblivion @ 60mph, lol.

I don't think so. Went out of range several times with a Futaba receiver and it goes in circles full-speed when out of range. Scary! [X(]

My TQ radio works well, but I can't seem to mount a receiver compatible with my Futaba 2PL 75MHz (which I prefer, came with my Evader Pro) right (Goes out of range probably because so much antenna is in the chasis, not out the top of the tube). Will using a Rustler battery hold-down and mounting the R122JE on it solve my problem? I'd like to know before I waste my money.

You might've stripped an idler (Are you still using a plastic one? Check it to make sure it isn't losing any teeth). This caused my Evader to run limp. But earlier today my Evader reacted strangely when a wheel wasn't screwed on right (that's what I get for using locking washers, stupid me!), but I doubt a loose wheel is the problem.

Why didn't you just dye them?

No, you would have to make them green, black, OR chrome.

lol exactly, but i think im pretty good at painting if you have seen my pics, i dont NEED to dye because i am skilled enough, with painting i can have green AND black AND chrome, and btw just so you know im not actually using like paint you use for houses, im using Krylon chrome paint, its used in airbrushing, painting rc wheels and bodies, and other kinds of things involved in hobbies, just so you know, thats just how I talk lol.

i am pissed at my stampede right now lol. it has been un used for a while now but i finally got it back up and i charged the battery. duratrax 4200 7 cell. and it charged to 4200. i got some new brushes for my trinity speed gems 15t and put it all together. gearing 13/86 it was very slow. i thought that it was the gearing but i always used that gearing with wheelies and a lot of speed. so i put in the stock 19/86 and it was still slow as all get out. i then put my brothers duratrax 4200 7 cell in and it was better. but his battery wasnt charged all the way so it was still slow.

the main point is that i need a new battery. what is good? i want an 8 cell i think. i was looking at building one on this website.

but i am getting sick of the whole brushed thing so i might just be getting a sidewinder 5700 very very soon.

Thats the spirit! Boomboombatteries makes some great "ener-g" cells. They are supposidly the best thing out on the market right now. I believe they have 8 cells, too.

I would get the vxl since you have the Stampede. It will drop right in and be FAST, cool temps, long runtimes, a great way to get into brushless.

Another good system would be the Mamba. But I wouldn't get the accual Mamba system. If you really want to do brushless right, get a Mamba esc, and a vxl motor.

Another outstanding combo would be the vxl esc along with the novak 6.5r motor. None of the systems are perfect, so for a little more, make your own.

The vxl is a strong system though, and the sw is too.

ok, I just installed new 5x11 bearings all around (wheels, tranny, etc) and installed a 35t pinion and a 76t spur. All I have to say is crazy tire balloonage.

soon.

I found that I had less top end with 35/76 gearing than with 25/90 gearing (12 cells). reason being is most likely because I was using 1500 NICD's (not exactly good performance). I think it's time for some ener-g matched packs

Oh well there goes my summer jobs

I'd love LiPo though. Not sure about the safety of it.

hes got a good point. never looked at it that way. you take care of it, it takes care of you. haha. it really is easy if you get the right stuff. but you HAVE to get the right stuff. maxamps and hyperion are a great combo. i love mine. no problems at all either. i would take a lipo over nimh any day. and you say geared 35/76? thats a dang near 1:2 drive ratio... and its slower than the 25/90? you must have some issues there man. even on a crapo 1500 nicd it should still be faster. LOTS faster. im suprised you can even gear it like that...
